Junior Choral Speaking Team Received SECOND Place

Happy to announce that our Junior Choral Speaking Team (P.1-3) proudly received a SECOND Place at the 69th Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival this morning.

Scored 88 for the performance of McGough's verse "Crocodile Farm", Adjudicator Ms Lamont praised our team on clarity, expressivity, movements, and performance development. Although we were one point behind the winning act, our team and coaches and our entire department are still very delighted for this fantastic result and the wonderful learning opportunity for these talents children.

These boys will perform again this Friday night at the PTA Annual General Meeting. They can then do it in a much more relaxed manner!

Congratulations again to our boys and thank you so very much to Mrs Rebecca Ho and Ms Karen Li for their hard work!

Training Choral Speaking with such a big group, 49 to be exact, is indeed a real big challenge to me because it is not only about voice, pacing, and rhythm, but also cooperation, and teamwork. The difficult part is that each of us (including Mrs Ho and me!) has our own talent, character, and style, and we have to learn compromising, cooperating and acknowledging one another within a short period of time. Looking back, I will say, we have done an excellent job. We have learnt so much within these three months. Day by day, we improve. Today, while I was watching the performance, I was truly touched. Apart from the cute faces and the lovely expressions, I can see team spirit, confidence, and most important of all --- brotherhood. Years later, you may not remember the poem, but I hope you will never forget the feeling of being a supportive and confident member of a team.

My little teammates, I hope you can continue to love poem, and language arts, and carry on enjoying the stage.

Last but not least, Mrs Ho, thanks for taking up this challenge with me! You are such a great teammate to work with!😘

Congratulations to the P1-3 English choral speaking team!
I have been a P1-3 choral speaking teammate and I knew that it took a lot of efforts for all the teammates to practise.
I hope that the junior choral speaking team can receive the first place next year!

I always find it fun to join the Speech Festival, especially the choral speaking competition. To me, today was an exploration. I explored different ways to interpret the poem (Crocodile Farm) and how it could be expressed through gestures , voice, volume, intonation, pausing and teamwork from other participating schools.
My little teammates, you may not remember every detail of the event today after years but I am sure that some lines from this poem will pop up whenever you see crocodiles.
" Come with me,
down to the world of language arts.
If you keep your eyes open, you will
come to no regret ."

I am looking forward to the Speech Festival next year.
