What I Would Do with a Giant Peach SECOND PLACE
Zenith Lee 4E
What would I do if I had a giant peach? I would of course try eating the peach first, then I might sit on it and pretend to be sitting on a gigantic furball. (not the kind that cats regurgitate)
What else would I do? I’d invite my friends over to a park and we’d pretend to be vampires, sucking on the peach’s juice. If I were a scientist, I’d scrape off some peach flesh and/or juice, analyze it, and see what caused the peach to enlarge tenfold. I’d then recreate the stuff, mix it into some water, and let a drop of said water fall onto some food to see if it enlarges it or not. If it did enlarge, I’d have found the cure for human starvation! If not, well, at least the experiment would be fun. I’d take the peach stone out and bury it so that it will grow into a tree. That sprouts several, even larger peaches and rinse and repeat. That way, there’d be enough peach flesh for the world. I’d turn it into a driving vehicle! Just slap an engine, some wheels, and a steering wheel onto the peach, and you’ve got a peach-mobile! It’s so big, it would probably fit more than a handful of people. But, most importantly, I’d thank the guy who gave me the peach in the first place.

The Journey to an Imaginary Land THIRD PLACE
Bosco Lee 4A
One sunny Saturday afternoon, Bosco had finished painting an imaginary land. As he displayed it on the bookshelf, he silently wished to explore the towering trees, running rivers and lush landscapes he had created. As soon as he rested the painting and turned away, calm music filled the air from the bookshelf’s direction. He spun back around and “whoosh”, he was sucked into a portal that used to be the shelf full of his favourite books.
He fell into a spiral through a tunnel. Bosco could feel sparkling powder as bright as the sun. Blinded by light, an invisible force pulled his limbs through a cramped crevice that he knew was too narrow to fit him. The force magically led him through and he found himself landing gently in a Japanese castle with a basket of mangos as yellow as gold, a beautiful chair with dragons carved on it and a dragon egg as black as the night sky. Reaching into his pocket for his notebook and collection of maps, he gazed around in anticipation for the adventure to come.

I Have Lost the Way MERIT
Nile Ng 4A
Friend, I have lost the way.
The way leads on.
Is there another way?
The way is one.
I must retrace the track.
It’s lost and gone.
Back, I must travel back!
None goes there, none.
Then I’ll make here my place.
Stand still and set my face.
Stay here, forever stay.
None stays here, none.
I cannot find the way.
The way leads on.
Oh! Place I have passed!
That journey’s done.
And what will come at last?
The road leads on.

If I Had a Giant Peach, I Would... MERIT
Ethan Ngai 4B
If I had a giant peach, I would make the most of it. The middle of the peach was hard, which was the stone of it, had many uses.
I wouldlive in it, maybe, as a relaxing little apartment all to myself, to escape the hustle and bustle of the busy city. Or, if we had a disaster someday and we ran out of food, the giant peach I had could last us a few months, right? Maybe, if I wanted to be famous, why not tell the news station? I could be in the newspapers and magazines in no time. Or, if I was generous, I could donate it to a museum, in a glass case under my home. I could even donate it to charities! If I wanted to make some money, I could build an amusement park called “Peach Park” and make some money. Even better, why not open a store and sell peaches and peach juice?
It is so fun just sitting in my garden and thinking what do with it. I hope the use of it can help some people someday.

If the Worst Comes to the Worst MERIT
Roderick Yuen 4B
Ever since I was introduced to the world,
I have been walking on
This path,
With twists and turns,
With forks and challenging stations-
All leading to
One destination.
I had been walking for many fortnights,
When I was enjoying the journey, guess what was in sight?
I saw a huge wall
Standing before me,
Towering ever me,
Looming over me,
Casting a whale- enormous shadow over me.
I tried to climb it dozens of times.
When success was about to arrive,
I could already see the horizon break,
My fingers would give way for they couldn’t wait
I would plumment to the lake
Before the wall,
And back to square one.
So I told myself,
“If the worst comes to the worst,
I’ll just run away
across the bay,
go around the wall,
trust me, I won’t get lost
and it will be the best way.”
The worst did come to the worst,
My strength drained like water in a bathtub,
And my arms were flabby like sponges,
I really couldn’t stay
So I strayed
From the path
For I thought that it would be the best way.
But the wall before me was
As long as the Great Wall of China,
I went far, and far,
yet the wall stretched, and farther.
So my only choice
Was to try, and try,
and I had a feeling I was going to cry, and cry.
It proved impossible,
and I thought giving up was sensible.
Suddenly I heard someone shout after me,
“Do you need help?”
He lifted me to start things off
And let me finish the vest,
This solution was actually the best.
So before long, I’d gone over
that monstrosity with ease.
Gleaming like the sun in triumph,
I threw a ladder to help the kind passer-by up.
carved in my mind was a valuable lesson:
Running away is not an option
When the worst comes to the worst on the path of Life.

The Journey to Australia MERIT
Daniel Leong 4C
Last year, my family and I went to Australia. This was the first time I’ve ever visited the southern hemisphere. First of all, we drove from Melbourne to a town called Port Campbell. We spent a whole night looking at stars there. I was fascinated by the countless stars and the awesome Milky Way. Then we visited The Twelve Apostles. These peculiar stones were tremendous, amazing and fabulous. The beautiful sunset was stunning and we stayed there for almost two hours and took as many photos as we could. Then we drove back to Melbourne. The trip was so long that we were exhausted and fell asleep very fast that night.
Next, we flew to Tasmania and headed to Crudle Mountain. We took a walk around Dove Lake, where we found some patches of plants covered by snow and ice and the top of the mountain was covered with snow. The surface of the lake was as smooth as a mirror and the water was so clear that we could see the reflection of the clouds and even ourselves. It was so amazing! The different colours of plants like yellow, green, red and orange were charming too.
Before leaving Tasmania, we went to a town called Hobart. A place named Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary was in the countryside near Hobart. We saw cute wombats, shy echidnas, agile Tasmanian devils and more! We even fed some kangaroos with some dried corn. They were glutinous and hungrily devoured all the food and made my hand wet with their saliva. Yuck! We were also allowed to pick up a furry and soft koala. He was snuggled up to me like a baby. I felt so warm and needed!
Our trip lasted for two weeks as we only travelled to Melbourne and Tasmania. The trip was really fun and unforgettable I hope we can go back there again one day after the COVID-19 epidemic.

A Marvelous Journey to the Ocean MERIT
Alvin Lee 4D
Looking at my beautiful seashells, I still remember the day I stayed with sea creatures in the ocean.
One morning, I got up early as usual. The first ray of the sunlight tiptoed through my bedroom. I rubbed my eyes hard and opened my mouth wide. I could not believe that a gorgeous fairy looking like a tiny girl with wings was standing in front of me.
“I’m a fairy on the ocean. You saved my friend, a turtle, on the beach yesterday so that your help was requited with a marvelous journey to the ocean,” the fairy said cheerfully. Right before the moment she finished the sentence, a submarine appeared suddenly in my bedroom.
“Let’s go to the ocean by the submarine!” the fairy said delightedly. Never had I visited the ocean before so I had butterflies in my stomach.
After a while, we reached the fascinating ocean. Amazed by the magnificent scene, I forgot All the troubles. Meanwhile, a lot of sea animals came to greet us. Then, a fabulous party was held by them. I felt like on the top of the world.
Finally, the party ended joyfully and the sea creatures gave me some beautiful seashells. I wish I could have a special party like that every day. What a wonderful journey!
