Duologue team awarded at Battle of the Bards 2025

(3 Mar) Congratulations to 5C Chetwyn Tsang and Horace Lau for their outstanding performance and a Bronze Award in the Battle of the Bards 2025 (Shakespeare4all)!

Selected from approximately 200 audition videos, Chetwyn and Horace showcased their talents against older students aged 11-14 in the Duologue D2 Category. As the youngest participants, their exceptional skills shown through, earning them an impressive 2nd Runner-up position.

I am very happy that I achieved third place for the duologue in Battle of the Bards .As me and my classmate were the youngest competitors in the competition.

Hello teachers and students, I am Horace Lau, and the Battle of the Bards was a wonderful experience for Chetwyn and I. Today, I will share my experience with all of you.

🕐 Audition 🕐

I must say that even the audition was hard. Chetwyn and I had to be selected from 200 contestants that were all participating in the same category as us. At first, I was sceptical about the competition, as I thought that I would not be selected, but, I pushed on. To get to the audition, I had to practice diligently at school, and spend some time on memorising the script at home. But, after days and nights of auditioning, we finally found a video that worked.

🕒 The Final Competition 🕒

After a few weeks, our results came back, and surprisingly, we managed to get to the final competition! After hearing about this, I was called from time to time to go to practice, and go on Zoom calls to chat with the artistic director, who gave us excellent advice on how to practice and perform better. Then, the day of the competition came. Before I knew it, I was sitting in the back stage, ready for the final performance. When doing the performance, I memorised the character to the point where I felt that I became the character, feeling the character’s emotions and temper. I performed and performed, and finally, the judges gave us a stellar 2nd runner up position.

🕟 Conclusion 🕟

All in all, the competition was a great chance to show my drama skills and delve deeper into the world of Shakespeare. I wish to perform again the next year and maybe learn more about drama.
