(10 Jan) An annual highlight of English enhancement for some selected YWPS boys, the P.5-6 Singapore Study Tour was successfully held from 4 to 8 Jan 2025. Boys who met the English standard and passed the interviews were invited to experience this rare opportunity.

Like before, students were immersed into the culture, atmosphere and English language environment of the beautiful country of Singapore with exciting locations like Science Centre, Merlion Park, Marina Bay Sands Observation Deck, Gardens by the Bay, Lau Pa Sat...to name a few.

Major visits of the tour were a drama workshop held at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts and a heartwarming morning at Fairfield Methodist School (Primary), where we were offered an extremely high level of interactions, friendliness and hospitality.

Principal Chan was kind enough to join part of this journey and visited St Andrew's Junior School with me for future collaboration opportunities.

All in all, this study tour gave great chances for our boys to learn and reflect on their learning. We look forward to seeing to their presentation on their post-trip reflection in due course.

This was truly a wonderful trip. I’m sure all the participants in the tour will agree with me that we have learnt a lot of information about Singapore throughout this tour.

My favourite location was the MS Works where we could learn how to do drama. The teachers there energetically taught us about the main focus of the lesson, ”improvisation”. We needed to make a story right after we are given the location, situation and characteristics. I've always wanted to learn this skill due to watching some entertainment programmes but I never understood how. The teachers said I needed to incorporate the techniques “Yes, and” and “Yes, but” into my acting. We also needed to think of something to say even if we run out of ideas out the acting wouldn’t entertain the audience. Fortunately, my group mates and I were able to make a smooth story on the spot.

Additionally, I liked Lau Pa Sat. There were hundreds of food stalls with different cuisines. My friends and I struggled to choose what we wanted. In the end, we just got bowls of kimchi noodles with chicken. We still had some money left for drinks and dessert. We ordered a mango shaved ice to share and a cup of sweet corn juice. The meal tasted scrumptious!

I would like to personally thank a few people. Although Principal Chan had to leave early, without her, this tour would just all be a dream. Dr. Lee, thank you for leading us to explore different locations in Singapore and learn more information. Last but not least, I would like to thank our marvellous tour guide, Miss Tanny. I learnt a lot of knowledge and fun facts about Singapore from her. She patiently answered all my questions.

I look forward to more study tours and hopefully the Singapore Study Tour will go on for more generations.

I must say that the Singapore Study tour has been the most fulfilling experience I have ever seen.
One of my favourite locations we went to in Singapore was the Gardens by the bay and the Fairfield Methodist Primary School.
In the school, the teachers there arranged for us to experience their lessons there, and I learned much about Singaporean culture and their education system there.
In the Gardens by the Bay,I learned about why Singapore is one of the most sustainable cities in the world, and I personally think that Singapore should be a model for all countries for its advancement and policies in the environmental field. If every country was like Singapore, then the world would have been a better place.
In conclusion,I would like to express my deepest gratitude towards Principal Chan,Dr Lee and the English teachers for organizing such a wonderful tour, and I strongly recommend the Singapore Study tour to the future generations of Ying Wa students because of the tour’s educational and fun aspects.

Everyone who participated in this Singapore Tour definitely could say that it was a blast. The Fairfield Methodist School (Primary) was really nice, especially the students. I just thought that they would be shy. That was certainly not the case.

The drama workshop was fun, to say the least. I always thought that I was just bad at acting. Actually, I discovered that I’m pretty good at it. It never occurred to me that the only reason that I was bad was because I never tried. When I wanted to, the mere thought of memorising the script was just stomach-churning. The drama workshop teaches improvisation, which made me realise that acting isn’t that bad.

Those were only two of the many places we visited. They were equally surprising and kept changing my way of viewing Singapore. I thought of it as nothing more than a country at first, then realised it was big on climate change, and now I know that Singapore started out very poor. What I now know about Singapore is it’s a view. A view that makes us see into the future. Into a perfect world.

I gratefully thank Principal Chan and Dr Lee for providing us with this wonderful trip. Thank you, Miss Tanny, our amazing tour guide throughout this trip. Thank you, Mr Brian, for all the times you spent time with us in the hot sun. Thank you, all the teachers who looked after us throughout this whole trip.

And last but not least, thank you, Mr Lee Kuan Yew, for shaping Singapore into the way it now is.

I am very lucky to be in this study tour and I could say that this was the best trip I have ever been to. We visited a lot of places and I will share the most memorable place : Gardens By The Bay.

First, we visited Gardens By The Bay. It was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. There were two parts we visited : The Cloud Forest and an astonishing waterfall. The Cloud Forest showed I think at least one hunkered different species of plants , tsp me plants were big and some were small. They also got some species from each continent! Even Antarctica! Next was the waterfall and I have got to say that this was the best and stunning waterfall I have ever seen. We even got to see it on the top of it!

At last, many thanks to Dr.Lee and Principal Chan for such a fulfilling trip.

The Singapore Study Tour was undeniably an enjoyable experience for anyone who joined.
The MS Works was one of the best experiences in the tour, where the teachers taught us how to do drama, and the topic of “improvisation” which basically meant create or perform without preparation. This didn’t turn out to be simple though, due to the fact that it gathers daily life experiences, depending on your situation. We got a range of situations from being stuck on the top of Marina Bay Sands to the movie theatre playing the wrong movie. Another thing that we had to use was our thinking. Our dramas had to come with a resolution, where every story had to have one. This has resulted in a variety of interesting ideas that we have created. This could enhance our creative thinking skills, which could be useful in certain types of writing.
Another place I liked was the Marina Barrage. There were people riding bicycles on the ground floor, and when we got up, it was the perfect view for Singapore. on one side there was the civilised city looking like something from 2030, and on the other side, there was a lush green view. In another part of the Barrage, there was something like a museum that let us learn how to Barrage works. The guide, Daisy , told us about Singapore’s adequate consumption of water and energy, and how they recycle it efficiently. By 2027, Singapore would have planted 8 million trees in the city. If every country could be like Singapore, the world would be a lot greener place.
Many other places that we visited in Singapore, could be described by three words: fascinating, interesting, and stunning.
I didn’t only like the places we visited, but also our tour guide—Tanny. She taught us about so many amazing things, like the fascinating history of Singapore, which started out as a trading port in 1819 (one year after Ying Wa’s founding). After its incorporation into the British Empire, it got invaded by the Japanese Empire in WW2, killing and abusing many Singaporeans, as well as damaging its infrastructure. Its later independence was short-lived for a while, since it joined the newly established Federation of Malaysia to gain access to resources. But, there was one glaring difference—its ethnicity. Singapore was 60% Chinese at the time, making cultural differences with the rest of the country. It was later kicked out of the federation as a poor city-state, which Malaysia thought could survive. But, there was one saviour of Singapore—Lee Kwan Yew—made trade decisions, urban planning, and public relations with other countries, shaped Singapore to the glorious country that is is now.
And finally, thanks to all the teachers that have assisted us during the tour, Principal Chan, for encouraging us on the way, Mr Brian for his help in the airport, Daisy for telling us about Singapore’s renewable energy and water consumption, and Tanny for telling us so many amazing things, which will always have a special place in my heart.

In this trip I knew that it is important to be healthy. So I should eat more vegetables , and drink more water during the trip. Also I knew that it is important to remember to take back my things after going to a place because some of my teammates left their umbrellas at Lau Pat Sat .Luckily I saw them or they will lose their umbrellas.

This Singapore trip is such a wonderful learning experience for us. We are amazed by a lot of things in Singapore and the most memorale thing is the learning experience in Fairfield Methodist school.

We had a amazing time in Fairfield and I met two students who are studying in Fairfield, they are Matthew and Jonathan. They were my tour guide when I was visiting Fairfield. They were very friendly and they introduced many different places in the school and played with us happily during the recess. I am very grateful to have them as my guide. At the end of the school tour, we thanked them to guide us through out the whole day and we left the school with a grateful heart.
Also, I would like to thank Principal Chan and our leading teacher, Dr.Lee for comming with us and lead us till the end for the whole tour. I will also like to thank our tour guide, Ms. Tanny for telling us many fun facts about Singapore and being super informative. This tour will definatly be one of the most memorable trip in my life!

This was the most fun filled tour I have ever experienced before. Throughout the tour, I have visited countless landmarks, such as the Merlion Park, Science Museum and Lau Pa Sat. I have also acknowledged a lot about Singapore ranging from how the Singapore government maintain their eco-friendly system to the history events happened in Singapore (Urban renewal as an example.

However, that was not the exciting part. The highlight of the tour was the visit to Fairfield Methodist Primary School in Singapore. I made lots of new friends and experienced a day of school in a top-notch school in Singapore for the first time. Plus, the teachers from the opposing used lots of efforts to prepare numerous activities for us Ying Wa boys, such as jamming beats and spectating different lessons.
I would like to sincerely thank everyone who planned the entire programme. Once again, thank you Principal Chan for allowing us to experience more outside the school area. Thank you!

The Singapore Study Tour was fruitful and fun! We went to Merlion park, Science center, Gardens by the bay, to name a few.Throughout the trip, we learnt more about Singapore's unique history and culture. I also went to a MS drama workshop and learnt how to "improvise". I was immediately given a topic and needed to act based on the topic. We also learnt to use"Yes,and"and"Yes,but" in our acting.
The Gardens by the bay was brilliant! It uses a system that freezes ice and releases cold air to control the room temperature so that the plants don't die.
I met a lot of new friends in the highlight of the tour, Fairfield Methodist school. They invited us in and we had lots of fun. Though I was originally shy, their kind and comforting environment made me quickly adapt to their school!
Last but not least, I learnt about Singapore's airforce history in the air force museum.Singapore's air force was originally weak, but it eventually grew strong.
I would like to thank Principal Chan for giving us a chance to join this fruitful experience, our tour guide,Ms. Tanny for teaching us many facts and history about Singapore, and also our leading teacher,Ms. Elizabeth for caring us along the way.

This trip was truly spectacular and fruitful. Although I was sick during the trip, I absorbed a lot of information about Singapore and came to understand that size isn’t a matter and Hong Kong could learn a lot from Singapore too.

We visited various locations, such as Merlion Park, Lau Pa Sat, Marina Bay Sands, and many more! Personally, my favorites were Marina Barrage and Gardens by the Bay.

Marina Barrage was truly extraordinary, as I learned so much new information there that it almost fried my brain! We were immediately greeted by Diana, our tour guide, who quickly showed us how Marina Barrage manages incoming rainwater. In front of us was a huge bridge, which Diana explained separates the river from the sea and is one of the main sources for managing rainwater. To help us understand the process of managing rainwater more clearly, Diana used a mini simulation to demonstrate the full procedure, as well as what Marina Barrage would do in different scenarios. Then, we went indoors and learned in detail about three topics in Singapore: global warming, water, and recycling. My brain was absolutely tired after the lecture, as we had sat there for an hour, taking notes every second and not missing a single point Diana made.

Gardens by the Bay, however, was the complete opposite of Marina Barrage; seeing the flowers and plants was refreshing and relaxing for the mind. First, we went to the Flower Dome, where we were deeply captivated by the beauty of the flowers and plants surrounding us. We even found wooden sculptures of boa constrictors, eagles, and a cool-looking Western dragon! Next, we visited the Cloud Dome and discovered a waterfall! I thought it was fake, so when I got closer, I accidentally splashed myself! The Cloud Dome was surrounded by fog, giving the atmosphere a mysterious sensation. We were surprised to learn that the cool and exhilarating air in the domes didn’t come from air conditioners, but rather from frozen ice underneath the floor, making it more environmentally-friendly and organic.

In conclusion, Singapore is nice, clean, and eco-friendly. I would also like to express my gratitude to Principal Chan for joining us for the first two days, to all the teachers for taking care of us, to Mr. Brian for looking after me for almost a full day when I was ill, and to Miss Tanny for sharing many fun facts about Singapore during our coach rides. Although I will leave YWPS next year, I hope this program will continue at the school, giving fellow students the opportunity to experience Singapore’s famous places every school year.

This trip was great to say the least, and no doubt that I’ve learned a lot during this study tour in Singapore. I think every participant in this tour will agree. My favorite three of the many locations we went to were the Science Centre and the Gardens by the Bay.

The Science Centre had a lot of different demonstrations of scientific phenomena. My teammates and I learned a lot about science that day, and I think all the other participants did too. There was a section I especially enjoyed where you could put different blocks with elements written on them. If you put two on sensors, it would show how these two elements could combine together to make useful materials; it even showed the atomic structure of the atoms/molecules!

Gardens by the Bay had two parts, the Flower Dome and the Cloud Forest. There were lots of different interesting plants in the Flower Dome, including a tree we nicknamed "The Wine Tree" as its shape looked like a wine bottle. There was also a cactus which had lots of "fur" on it. The local tour guide, Tanny, told us that all the plants were shipped to Singapore from all over the world. What a great feat! The Cloud Forest had an artificial waterfall, and one could actually feel the water raining on oneself. It was an amazing sensation. There were different levels where you could look at different plants. There was also a bridge from the top level to the bottom floor, and you could observe the waterfall from various points of view. Everywhere was lush and green; it was unreal.

I always remembered that this was a "study" tour and we came here to learn. I also understood that this trip was meant to teach us how to be independent, especially when we bought food ourselves at Lau Pa Sat; it was really a fun experience. It also let us experience the art of improvisation during the MS Works drama workshop. Not only that, but it also helped us learn how to cooperate with our teammates.

This trip was truly wonderful and amazing. I would like to thank some people who made this great tour a reality. First of all, Principal Chan. She was only in Singapore with us for two days, but without her permission, this trip would not have been a reality. Dr. Lee led us throughout the tour and reminded us to always learn. The tour guides, Tanny and Brian: Tanny was an expert on Singapore and taught us many interesting facts, while Brian organized everything for us. Last but not least, all the teachers who came to Singapore with us. They took care of us, and I am really thankful for that.

Overall, I loved this study tour in Singapore. I hope Ying Wa will continue having this tour, not only for the year to come but for generations to come.

I think this study tour was very informative.I have learned many fascinating facts about Singapore such as how Singapore evolved from a poor fishing village to the current modern and eco-friendly city.Designs of the buildings and facilities.Like how the Marina Bay Sands was built with ‘Feng Shui’ and the Marina barrage which is used to control water levels and to collect drinking water.I also learned how primary schools there are like, which is quite different from our school. For example, they have a very organised P.E. Lesson, where there are many stations with different sports activities.I have also learned that I should not be shy to talk to people from a different country and culture.Lastly,I learned how to tidy up and be responsible for my own belongings.Overall,it was a very interesting experience where I explored a completely different culture and learned to take care of myself and my belongings.

Memorable, exciting, wonderful…there are countless adjectives to describe the marvellous Singapore Study Tour. I feel so glad to be a participant. I experienced both thrilling landmarks and horizon-broadening cultures, even educational knowledge which is amazing.

I saw beautiful sceneries and signatures of Singapore like the Merlion at landmarks. More importantly, I can feel the culture and the atmosphere in Singapore, the peacefulness, the greenery and the sustainability to global warming which is worth learning. On top of that, I absorbed so much from tour guides, something I have never heard of or thought of before. It has really expanded my knowledge, like how amazing Singapore is from a little city to a global-recognising one. Experiencing education in another city was impressively pleasant as well. I saw the engaging parts of Fairfield Methodist, a local school in Singapore, like how they craft and jam songs as class activities. I met some nice friends over there too.

In this tour, there was an obvious growth and self-improvement between one another. I definitely became an independent boy that can take care of himself. I also confidently presented myself throughout the tour, especially in the drama workshop which I think is essential for a leader. Moreover, I cultivated good habits such as sleeping early while waking up early and showing manners when dining and more. As a matter of fact, I definitely feel how the relationship between teachers and classmates, even foreign students, become closer. We helped each other between peers and these small processes were very enjoyable. I understood morals in depth by experiencing them. For instance, keeping everything clean and reading the room.

Also, I immersed myself fully in English, this fun language, and enjoyed every conversation I had. My English, especially communication skills, absolutely improved. This tour enabled me for indepence skills, confidence in communicating, cultural exploration, leadership skills, attitude understanding, English immersion, active learning, incredible memories, excellent relationships and a sea of knowledge. It was like a gem, a roller-coaster and the brightest star. I would really like to give my heartfelt thanks to Principal Chan, Dr Lee, our group teacher Mr Boris Lau, all the other teachers and the tour guides Tanny and Brian. Thank you so much for your guidance, for the teachers taking care of us and making the tour a success.😄

The Singapore Study Trip was an immensely enjoyable and unforgettable experience for all of us, especially me. This was the first time I had been so engaged and active in one subject since last year, so it is really been a great journey.
One of my classmates, Jason, gave me a durian flavoured ice cream, and it is not the only new thing I have tried in Singapore that I found really nice!I also tried some local food, which I didn’t think would be appetising, but I have very enjoying it.
In this journey, we also learnt and tried new skills, like socialising with other students from Singapore and Drama Improvisation.
Other than that, we have visited many local tourist attractions, such as Marina Bay Sands, Marina Barrage, Gardens by the Bay, Orchard Road, Science Centre Singapore and last but not least, the local landmark, The Merlion.
On the last day, at the airport, the plane back to Hong Kong was delayed for a long period of time, which was the first time something like that had happened. It was something very special, and I was very grateful for it, because that way, I could spend more time with my fellow classmates.
This has been a very fruitful event for all of us, and I thank all teachers, classmates and the principle for having me on this trip.

The five days in Singapore were really fruitful and memorable. I learnt a lot of new knowledge about Singapore laws, water recycling, garbage management and the method of making the city more environmentally-friendly.
Fairfield Methodist Primary School is the most memorable school that I have ever attended. I had a fun time there as I played basketball for about half an hour in recess. Also, in the PE lesson which they planned for us, we have to do eight stations. In the push-up station, I did well because my arm can do a 90° and the teacher wanted me to be their model! I was surprised but also joyous.
Moreover, the drama workshop on the third day was also interesting. There, we all learned improvisation, which can make ourselves more imaginative. One of the exercises was very special and I want to share. It is a talking practice, we need to use “Yes, and” or “Yes, but” to make a complete story. We needed to think in a very short period of time.
Here is a list of people who I want to thank. First, Principal Chan was the person I want to thank most as she gave us this precious chance. It is because of this we can learn many things here and know more about Singapore’s culture. In addition, I want to thank Dr. Lee and the fellow teachers who brought us overseas.
I am looking forward to seeing the Fairfield children again this year. I also hope that there will be more chances for us Ying Wa boys to show them our strengths.

This Singapore Study Trip was such an unforgettable experience! I had learnt a lot of new things about Singapore such as their culture, law and much more. Of course, without our teachers and Principal Chan, this Study Trip wouldn't be possible. I deeply thank all of them for making this trip possible.
We visited a lot of tourist attraction such as the Science Museum, Garden By The Bay, Fairfield Methodist Primary School...... However, my favorite part of this Study Trip was going to the Drama Workshop. It was because I learnt a lot of drama and acting skill, I also learnt about improvisation, which was about having to act instantly without planning anything. It was really fun seeing all the people acting with different ways and it was truly amazing!
Once Again, thank you to all the teachers and Principal Chan, I'm really grateful to be in this trip and I'm really looking forward to see the Fairfield Methodist Primary School students coming to our school.

This study tour was an absolutely delightful experience, filled with numerous fun activities. I feel incredibly fortunate to have been part of this tour, especially since many others did not have the opportunity. I would like to share a few highlights.

At the science centre, we encountered a variety of fascinating exhibits, including illusions, mind-blowing physics, and science experiments. One particularly impressive demonstration was the fire tornado, which is only shown once a week due to its dangerous nature. We were lucky to witness it. Another highlight was the mirror maze, where we had to use a foam stick to navigate our way out.

A significant part of the tour was our visit to Fairfield Methodist Primary School. Initially, we gathered in a room to play games together. The first game involved each group receiving a toy and a paper with numerous questions. When the music started, the first player had to answer a question and then pass the toy. When the music stopped, the person holding the toy had to elaborate on the question. The second game required everyone to write three facts about themselves on a piece of paper, fold it, and place it in the middle. Each person then picked a paper and guessed the author. If guessed correctly, the author had to share more about the facts. The third game paired a Fairfield Methodist student with a Ying Wa student to draw something they thought only they have in their school bag. I drew my hotel card, which no one else had.

We also observed their lessons, where they used an app called ClassPoint for teaching. They were having a geometry lesson on quadrilaterals. Afterward, we had lunch, and I enjoyed some delicious noodles. We then attended a workshop where we decorated pencil cases using a machine. My pencil case turned out beautifully. Finally, we used iPads to create music together, with some choosing to sing, others playing percussion, and some playing the bass. The end result was fantastic.

On the last day, our flight was delayed by three hours. Cathay Pacific provided us a meal voucher worth SGD$15. During the delay, we had lunch, bought a pandan cake, and played some games. We ate at Texas Chicken, which was very tasty. The delay tested our patience, but we managed to stay entertained.

The Singapore Tour was incredibly enjoyable. I hope it continues for years to come, allowing other students to experience it as well!

In this tour, I had an unique journey. The tour let me learn many specialties of Singapore. It was amazing and I thought it was a dream! I also visited Fairfield Methodist School and knew more about Singapore’s education systems.

Firstly, the morning in Fairfield Methodist School is the best throughout the trip. The students were extremely welcoming and friendly. Their campus was huge! There was a canteen, garden, football field, and a lot more. The teachers arranged us for music activities and let us join normal lessons. Students have longer recesses and they bring their own money to buy lunch themselves! This is very different from us.

Also, the visit to Singapore Science Centre is memorable. There were many interesting scientific facts that Hong Kong doesn’t have. Many of them are about sustainable developments while some of them were just taught in school. The centre was enormous and took us hours to explore.

In conclusion, besides from the two highlights, there were still a lot. Singapore is so green that almost everywhere are trees. Hong Kong can learn to be more sustainable. Last but not least, thanks to Principle Chan, Dr. Lee and all English teachers who participated. They made the dream came true. They are all incredible! And also Miss Tanny, an experienced tour guide, for teaching me a lot too! Without her I would have known much less!

I am very fortunate to be chosen into this Singapore study tour. It was one of the best trips I’ve ever been to. We learnt a lot of about Singapore's culture and history. The most memorable places I went to was the Gardens By The Bay and the Science Centre.

Gardens By The Bay had two parts 一Cloud Forest and Flower Dome. Miss Tanny, our tour guide, told us that the Gardens By The Bay was once just wet clay. Since Mr. Lee wanted Singapore to be one big garden, he had to drain all the clay out , mix the clay with cement to harden it then put it back. Miss Tanny also told us that the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest were actually not air conditioned. Instead, they built a huge water tank and ice pipes that cool down the Cloud Forest and Flower Dome , along with windows that automatically open and close, according to the temperature inside Cloud Forest and Flower Dome.

The Science Centre was also fun.It had a lot of different exhibits about scientific phenomena. my favourite was the fire tornado. The operator explained how it spins and how it goes up. Since the fire needs oxygen, the fire will suck the oxygen, so if they put the boards that lets oxygen in in the same direction, The oxygen will start spinning around the fire, causing a tornado. As for how it goes up, the hot air that the fire makes rises up and since the fire tornado needs heat to continue burning, the fire tornado will go up.

Finally, thank you, Principal Chan , Dr Lee and all the other teachers but not least, I would also like to thank our tour guide, Miss Tanny. Without her, we wouldn’t have learnt anything on this trip.

I think this tour was really unforgettable as my first time being in Singapore!MS works was surprisingly the best part of the trip!
That morning when we arrived at MS works, I wasn’t having any high hopes about it.It was because I thought drama wasn’t really fun to me after all.But the workers there started teaching us about it us by playing games.I really liked those games and my interest in drama started to grow.Soon later I started liking drama. When we played drama with the P6 boys we were thrilled and my group showed our best.
I thank the workers/teachers there teaching me not just drama ,but also helped me grow confidence in speaking English .
I thank all the teachers in the English department to organise this trip ,also I have to thank Brian for arranging the scrumptious meals and most importantly,I have to thank our brilliant tourist ,Tanny .

This is a wonderful and excited trip.I learnt a lot of things about Singapore in this trip.

The location I like the most is the Fairfield Methodist Primary School. The studends there are very welcoming and friendly.I met a lot of friends there and I even got their phone number! They were all very kind to me and we became friends very quickly.Their school is even bigger than Ying Wa!It is very astonishing. The teacher arranged us to different classes, and I was arranged to an english class. After the english class,it was time for recess. They have only one recess but it is half an hour.I played basketball in the humongus basketball court. Then we had a arts lesson.I decorated a pencilcase of my own. There is a Ying Wa Primary School printed on it.Lastly,we ate lunch the food there was very delicious.I ate a hamburgur,a chicken wing, and a drink. We left a satisfied heart there.

The trip to the science museum is also unforgettable. There were a lot of workshops there and I wanted to participate in every one of them. The best part is when I saw a man made fire tornado.I was so amazing!I captured a seven minute video out of it.

This trip is truly amazing.I hope to have another trip like this next time.

Hello teachers and students, I am Horace Lau, and let's cut to the chase, the Singapore Study Tour was the best (and for now, only) study tour of my life. Now, I will talk about some of the best places I have visited on this tour: the M.S. Workshop and Merlion Park.

✈ M.S. Workshop ✈

Once we entered the workshop, our teachers taught us the principle of improvisation by playing a simple game, "Yes, and...". In this game, you have to reply to the main conversation by saying "Yes..." and improvising. This continued until the teachers switched the rules a bit and made the rebut have to start with "Yes, but..." instead. Instantly, the game became harder, but the creativity in our minds pushed us on. In the end, we did a few rounds of improvisation, and then we arrived at the other groups' classroom, in which we did a round where the teachers would give us the topic 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗽𝗼𝘁, and we had to make the story out as we went. Ultimately, we achieved stellar results, and we realised the true meaning of improvisation.

✈ Merlion Park ✈

Of course, I can't talk about Singapore without talking about Merlion Park. Our tour guide, Ms. Tanny, also explained that the Merlion's history goes way back. The statue symbolises Singapore's origins as a fishing village, while the head represents Singapore's original name, Singapura, Sultan Iskandar Shah, who named the country after noticing that the island's shape resembles a lion. In recent times, the lion had to be removed due to Feng Shui. Overall, I respect and adore how the Singapore government cares about traditional systems and uses all measures to make iconic landmarks fine in all religions and ethnicities of Earth.

Even after all this explaining, there are still countless things that I haven't talked about in Singapore and many other things that I haven't discovered. But for now, I send my heartfelt gratitude to the people who helped make this study tour a reality, which includes Principal Chan, Dr Lee, Ms Elizabeth, Ms Peggy, Mr Boris Lau, our group teacher, Mr Jason Lau and all parents from all the other families in this group. I would also like to thank Ms. Tanny and Mr. Brian for leading us into the wonderful history of Singapore. I wish that other students will get to experience this study tour in the future, and lead the spirit of Ying Wa to more fruitful experiences!

After this study tour, I am very grateful and lucky to join this tour due to the fact that I get to learn more about the country ---- Singapore! At the same time, this might be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I was very shocked when I found out that Singapore was one of the most independent country of all time, it was abandoned by England and Malasyia. However, thanks to Mr. Lee Kuan Yew’s strong passion to make Singapore alive again, with a little bit of investment and support by other countries and rich people, which he earned it for his hard-work, he successfully did it. I was very glad to spend time with my classmates and to visit different places in Singapore that I don’t usually visit. Throughout the whole trip, my biggest gain was to listen to the tour guide to tell us different facts and history about Singapore as she was extremely informative. Next, if I have to give Singapore a nickname, it would be the Merlion country as the merlion symbolizes Singapore very well. Then, my favourite place to go to in Singapore will be ----Lau Pa Sat due to the wideness of food choices, my eyes were shining when I was the majority of food stalls and restaurant. Lastly, thanks to all of the teachers who brought us to Singapore and Principal Chan for the opportunity to this study tour.

The five day Singapore study tour lead by our English teachers and our tour guides had been a great experience for me. There are many exciting spots that I have went to, so I picked a few to share with you, my fellow classmates.
Merlion park :On our first day, we went straight to the Merlion park. Our tour guide Miss Tanny explained that the fountain represents the original name of Singapore :Singapura. The name "Singa" means "lion" due to the shape of the country itself. Then what about "pura"? It actually means fish, thus the fountain has a fish tail. It represented Singapore's past of being a little trading harbour like Hong Kong.
Day 2 :(Since the best of the journey is on day 2,I'll just talk about the whole day.) We first went to Marina Barrage. There, I saw many people riding bikes. You'll know more about it later. The tour guide there, Miss Diana, told us about the barrage and how it works(I noticed that many people are riding bikes) . She also told us about Singapore's recycling plans for the future. Then, we visited Gardens By The Bay. It was divided into two main domes :the flower dome and the cloud forest. Miss Tanny explained that the cooling system of the domes used a lot of frozened ice tubes. There were many plants from all over the world, including Antarctica! It's so fascinating.
Finally, I want to thank all our teachers including Miss Peggy, Miss Elizabeth,Mr Jason Lau, Mr Boris Lau and Dr Lee for leading the whole team. I would also like to thank our two tour guides, Miss Tanny for explaining everything about Singapore, and Mr Brian for planning the tour. Last but not least, I'd like to thank Principal Dr Chan for making the tour possible.

During the past few days,we have been to an incredibly small but extremely successful country————Singapore!
Before, Singapore relied on Malaysia to live. But when Singapore became independent, Mr. Lee Kuan Yew insisted on making Singapore become alive again. So till now, the society is very harmonious. When we visited the court(now it is a museum),our tour guide told us a lot about the laws in Singapore and One of them astonished me.”No protesting is allowed in Singapore!”Miss Tanny said that it was because that they built this society for 60 years and they don’t want anyone to destroy it.But they are very friendly too.If you protest, there must be a problem,so the people will sit down and listen to the protester what he or she thought was the problem. After that, they will tell it to the citizens if they agree. The Singaporeans think that if the problem is not solved, then bigger problems will be created,so the support from all the people in Singapore is crucial for the development of the country.
To me, Singapore is one of the greatest country in the world.Although their land area is small, but the citizens and government are working together and they meet the difficulties of the country together,so the development of the country is flourishing.Till now, Singapore has become one of the greenest country in the whole world. From the dream of becoming a city in a garden, till fulfilling it and building the gardens by the bay, with a majority of plants in it.
During the whole tour, I have had different cuisines of food, but I think Lau Pa Sat was the best of all.
Although the seats and tables there were not really hygienic, the food was absolutely delicious. The majority of the foods made me feel very satisfied. Most importantly, all different kinds of cuisines were at the same place, so I had a lot of different choices, including Japanese food,Chinese food and western food etc.I struggled to choose the food that suited me the most.At last,I my friends and I got some sour and spicy noodles, which was kind of a great deal compared to the others. Also,we bought a dessert which was like a slushie that was squeezed into the shape of a mountain and had some some mango icing poured onto it.We bought two so that we could give one to Principal Chan and Dr.Lee.
On the last day,we went to the science museum, where there were a lot of different kinds of science exhibitions. The one that I liked most was the maze made out of mirrors. The reflection on the wall is the only way to know whether it is a wall or a passageway. After about 20 minutes of guessing, about 50 times bumping into Dr. Lee,and about 5 times going back to the start,we finally made it to the end, where stephan and Marcus were already waiting for us and gave us quite a fright.
At last, I need to thank Principal Chan for planning this trip for us.Without Principal Chan, this tour would only be a dream for us.In addition, I need to thank all of the teachers in the English department, especially Dr.Lee,who led us throughout the whole tour too. Also,I need to thank our tour guide,Miss Tanny, for leading us through the whole journey and telling us all about the culture and history of Singapore!
