Happy Family – Letter to Mum and Dad        SECOND PLACE
Cantus Tam 1A

Dear Mum and Dad,

There will never be enough words to describe how much I appreciate you.
Like a quilt, you give me warmth.
Like a pill, you heal my wound.
Like a map, you guide my way.
Like a book, you share your knowledge.
Like a cloth, you dry my tears.
Like the air, you are always here.
Like my mind, you always understand me.
Like our home, you are where my heart is.
Like no one else, YOU LOVE ME.
Thank you, Mum and Dad!

Love,

Cantus

My Favourite Experience with Water       THIRD PLACE
Yi Cai 1B

What do you think when you see the word “water”? Soy sauce? Orange juice? Waterfall? Ink? Or wet wipe? For me, I will think of my favourite experiment. Let me tell you what I did last month…
My mother often goes shopping online. One day she bought me a set of science experiment which is called rainbow in water. What an interest experiment! I can make a rainbow at home! I just unpacked it immediately. The experiment now began! I picked up a test tube and dropped a few drops of red pigment. And then, I dropped a few drops of blue pigment into the same test tube. Something amazing happened! It turned purple! Unbelievable!
After that, I wanted to try to make a rainbow in the wash basin. The first step, I filled the wash basin with water. Second, I added different pigments into the water: 3 drops of red, 5 drops of blue and a bottle of yellow…… Just then, a drop of pigment silt on my hand when I took my towel. Then, I accidentally dropped my dad’s towel in the basin! A white towel became colourful in an instant. I can imagine my dad’s angry face like a volcanic eruption.
Through this experiment, I realized that we should be careful and safe when doing experiments. In addition, I would like to advise you to stay away from your parents’ stuff, which if the most important factor to ensure your safety.

My Favourite Experience with Water      MERIT
Parker Chan 1A

My Favorite experience with water is taking a bath. Sitting in a bath is warm and comfortable.
Taking a bath is fun too. I like to play with toys in the bath, some toys can float like plastic and wooden toys, boats and balls. But some toys like stones and marbles sink to the bottom. Sometimes when I am taking a bath, I use a tube or a straw to make bubbles. It feels like an erupting volcano of water. Sometimes I splash the water to make waves to sink the ships.  Haha…I am a mighty sea monster!
When my mum says “time’s up”, I let go of the water. It forms a water swirl that sucks the toys to the hole like a waterspout. It is exciting!  Goodbye bathtub, see you next time!

My Dream       MERIT

What is “My Dream”? Do you guess what profession is widely recognized today? They like asking question and desire to understand the world is as we can see it and how it came to be. Yes, they are SCIENTISTS. I want to be a scientist because I like inventions, exploring new things, taking challenges, finding the truth and helping others. As a scientist, I can do lots of experiments and do potion brewing. My idol is Albert Einstein who formulated the theory of relativity in 1905. I want to work in the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). I want to discover a new planet with similarities to Earth which is suitable for humans to live in and name the planet “Earth 2”!

Last Christmas, my parents and I went to cape D’Aguilar in Shek O. There is protected area called cape D’Aguilar Marine Reserve.
We first went to the Thunder cave. Soon we climbed into it then we heard some booming thunder sound along with the water splash. It was so noisy that I had to cover my ears!
Next we went to the coast. An enormous Bones of Miss Willy was there to welcome us. I was very excited that I couldn’t wait to the top and from there I saw a gorgeous and sparkly ocean in front of us. The incredible wave together with the wind produced a fantastic natural song. I sat there and pretended. I was staying in my cozy and comfortable room eating my yummy snack. Finally, we built our stone pillar there and made a wish for the new year. What a happy Christmas day!

My Dream       MERIT

On January 26, 2020, I heard the shocking news that an NBA basketball legend Kobe Bryant died along with his daughter in a helicopter crash. I felt absolutely miserable because Kobe is one of my favourite basketball players. I want to be a professional basketball player.
I love playing basketball since I was three years old. My parents always play basketball with me. I like playing one-on-one game with my father and he teaches me a lot of secret skills. We always watch NBA games together to learn basketball techniques from the professional players.
Playing in an NBA team to play against all the greatest, amazing and brilliant players is always my dream. My ultimate goal is to win the NBA championships. I know it is very difficult to achieve, but this is my dream.

My Dream       MERIT
Jeremy Ho 1E

Do you know what my dream is? I want to be a diver. I want to understand the ocean and sea creatures. Then, I can educate the public about ways to protect the ocean.
I will visit the deep sea by riding a submarine. I will take pictures and videos of the sea creatures. I will also write stories about their fun facts.
Besides, I will invent a machine to clean the ocean. The machine will collect the rubbish and decompose it completely. The process will produce energy for the machine to move.
Finally, I will make computer games for the children to learn about the ocean. They will know how amazing the ocean is!
