My Book Sucked Me in!   SECOND PLACE
Ken Chu 2E

Today, while I was at school, I went to the school library to borrow books. I was searching, I finally found a book that was interesting. I quickly grabbed my student card and rushed to the service counter. When I got back home, I read the interest book.

While I was reading the book, it sucked me into it! I was frightened and didn’t know what to do, I screamed, “Help!” No one answered me. I was teleported into chapter one. I saw a lot of dinos. They were angry because I went into the book. They chased me and ran around and I was thrilled to bits. A few minutes went by. When I finally saw a door, I rammed into it. It teleported me into chapter two. The book had only three chapters so it was no big deal. I saw a bunch of UFOs and aliens. I thought they were having a meeting, but turned out they were having a party. I wanted to join the party, so I approached them, but found that they all looked blood thirsty. I quickly got on a random UFO and drove to the nearest exit.

Then, I was teleported to the last chapter, chapter three. I was dressed up like a jedi and I fought some ‘Guardians of the forest’. I picked up some guns and started shooting. When I defeated them, a door teleported in front of me, I quickly ran into the door, knowing I would be sent to reality.

A few hours later, I was teleported back to the real life. My mom asked me where I had been. I thought, “’It was a Waow experience!”

My Book Sucked Me in!   THIRD PLACE
Jusmond Wong 2E

Last week, I was reading a Minecraft book about creative mode. It was fantastic. Suddenly, the pots which had flowers in them broke. The room caught a fire. The book flew up and sucked me in.

I felt like an ant on a burning hot pot. Then, I fell onto a house roof. I looked around and discovered that I was in the Minecraft World in creative mode. I saw birds flying happily. The villagers were farming. ‘Is there a house?’ I thought. Oh! It was the modern house in the book. To my surprise, I was not the only one here, because a wizard came and gave me a piece of paper. It was a task for me go back home. I needed to build a house. In a second, a voice came and said, ‘Let me teach you.’ It was the book! It started to teach me. In three hours, I finished building the house. Suddenly, somebody changed my mode into hard core. Oh no, the floor was on fire and I was going to die.

‘Ring Ring’ the alarm clock rang. Oh, it was just a dream. I was grateful.

The Mysterious Book   MERIT

Yesterday, I was exploring in my house’s cellar, a part which my parents had never allowed me to go. I found an old and dusty book lying in a corner.

Since I was curious, I went back to my bedroom and started to read. Suddenly, a powerful beam of light burst from the book that blinded me! When I opened my eyes, I saw that before me was a huge swirling portal. It sucked me through the pages of the book and into darkness.

Bright sunlight and fear made me open my eyes. I was in a city that looked the same as my city but in an extremely boring colour: grey, grey and more grey! What was going on! I saw a telescope and looked around. Wow! I could see everything from Hong Kong to America! This was a strange and fantastic telescope.

After losing interest in the telescope, I saw that the people in the city were grey too! Suddenly, I thought of an idea, “I have a paintbrush filled with colourful ink”. I painted all of the building and people!

Finally, I went back to my home and felt very happy in the end.

One day at school, it was break time. My friend, Preston and I, were reading ‘Diary of a Creeper’ when suddenly the book sucked us in! yeah, I know, right! It’s kind of weird but juts go with it, man! It’s my story!

So anyway, we got sucked in the book and felt ourselves falling. Then…I…I…I must have fainted. I couldn’t remember anything else. But when I came back to my senses, we were in a blocky forest. I know! But as I said, just go with it! In the blocky forest, I saw a creeper running towards us! Oh, yeah, I forgot to tell you, it’s Minecraft. We ran and ran and ran until… Boom! The creeper blew up. Yes, creepers blow up.

We weren’t hurt, that was the good news. But spoiler alert – there was a pack of hungry wolves right in front of us! We ran and ran again! “Agh! Why do we always get in trouble!” said Preston.

We jumped in a pond and went back to the real world and lived happily ever after.

One day, I was reading a book called “Chocolate Hills”. The book was about different hills’ height.

Suddenly, some blue light tolled through the book and sucked me in! I was in a world of hills! I opened my eyes and saw that I was at Himalayas: the tallest hill in the world! I was so cold, so I shouted, “Does anyone live here?” Then, I walked until I finally saw a human “emm… hello there,” I said. “Hi, would you like to come to my house?” “Oh thanks,” I said. The man took me to his underground house, “It’s so big!” I marveled out load.

The man’s name was Ralph Jones. He said that he first skied when he was one year old. We planned a trip: first we went skiing, then we travelled to the zoo to see some animals, at last we went back to his home. Just when I thought I was never gonna go home, I woke up. Phew, luckily it was just a dream.

I need to work harder to learn and remember the hills’ names, or I would be really sucked up by a book.

Yesterday was a public holiday. I read a book about dinosaurs, and it was so interesting. It was my first time reading it. Then, when I flipped to the last page, I saw a red button! I was so curious that I pressed it and then it began to suck me in!

I found myself in a land, just like the Earth. I found something again. It was a backpack lying on the ground! I opened it and there were so many useful things, like water, a force field activator, an energy gun, a laser rifel, ammo and a strange-looking iPad. So I started exploring.

After I walked for about ten minutes, I saw a group of raptors, and they were chasing me! I held up my laser rifel and ran. I kept shooting until I found it was no use! I ran and ran until I found a cave full of buttons. There were hundreds of green buttons and a red, that I chose the red one because it was the same one in the book. Then, boom! I was back at home with my backpack.

At last, I was back busy reading the magic storybook.

David's Unforgettable Party   MERIT
Wong Chun Yu Myles 2C

Tomorrow is David’s birthday, so he decided to have a party. He wanted te party to have lots of games, food and friends. At night, David as so exited that he couldn’t sleep!

Today is David’s birthday. While his parents were busy helping him set up the decorations, he picked up the phone and called a few friends. He had to to act quickly because his party was starting at a quarter past twelve but it was already half past eleven. After he told all of his friends to come to his party, he went to buy some food. He bought some pizza, French fries, hamburgers, chips, candy and drinks. Then he made some party hats for his friends to wear. Last, he put all the games and food on the table.

When his friends came, he opened the door to let his friends come to his house. First, they sang David a happy birthday song, then played some games. Some of the games were very hard so only a few people beat the. There were some easy ones which all of his friends could beat them. But, the most famous game was the claw machine because there was some money inside! After thr games, they sat down and ate a lot of food. They really liked it. Last, they wished David a happy birthday an ate some cakes.

At night, David was really happy that he got to spend his birthday with all of his friends. What an unforgettable birthday!
