A Night at the Island SECOND PLACE
Oliver Ng 4D
A cheerful boy named Jack was riding in a grotesque car. He was on his way to Paris. Once the car screeched to a halt, Jack darted out the tattered car and ran towards the check in centre. After he checked in, he zoomed to the boarding place. Jack was exceptionally aroused. He was going to see the astounding Eiffel Tower. He boarded the plane and the plane flew away from the airport.
In the plane, Jack was listening to a comforting music. Suddenly, the alarm went off.
A voice appeared, “Attention, passenger. This plane has been hijacked. Please evacuate the plane immediately using the slides when the plane is near the ground.”
Jack was panic-stricken. The plane zoomed downwards. He saw the emergency slide was open. Quickly, he slid out the slide only to notice he had slid out a bit too early. He fell down the air. The plane went diagonally down. Jack’s body crashed into the deep, gloomy ocean. He swam up frantically out of fresh air. He swam at breakneck speed away from the hurling plane because the plane might explode. Jack found a supremely picturesque island. He arrived at the beach. Kaboom. The plane plunged into the water. Jack pondered: how will I get back to Hong Kong, my home?
Jack left the beach and explored the rest of the stupendous island. It was already nighttime. Jack found a perfect place to sleep – underneath some coconut tree leaves. Next day I will search for ships sailing through the ocean, he thought. But Jack couldn’t sleep. He finally decided to go for a walk. Moonlight shone on the calm sea. He walked to the beach and then he was stupefied. On the middle of the beach was a glinting gold piece. Jack’s mood lightened. He ran towards the gold piece, and tried to pull it out. But it was stuck firmly like a tree. He then dug out the sand around it, then he found out it was a majestic and mystical door. There was a picture engraved on the door. The picture had golden snakes entwined around a crooked face. Jack pushed open the door, and he found a stone staircase that led down into the unknown. Jack walked down slowly. He was curious what was inside. Finally, Jack arrived at the bottom. A few light bulbs lit the secret chamber. Jack walked forward and then saw a wall with numbers from 1-25 and letters A-Z engraved on it.
A voice suddenly cackled. “Find out your house’s coordinates, and you can go home.”
Jack was petrified but satisfied. When he was younger, he craved maps. He spent hours reading them. He knew what coordinates mean, and what coordinates they live in. He pressed PB and the wall revealed countless of tunnels. Each tunnel had places and streets written in black calligraphy on a piece of paper. Jack entered the tunnel called Yuen Chau Street. After a minute, Jack saw a train in front oh him. He climbed aboard the train, then it rushed away quickly. When the train appeared out of the tunnel, it vanished. The tunnel also disappeared. The only thing Jack saw was his substantial apartment.

Four Seasons THIRD PLACE
Vitus Choy 4D
God created the wonderful four seasons
The nature amazes people with many reasons
When the lives are woken up by the warm weather
it’s the time that they celebrate the arrival of spring together
the raindrops enrich the lands
the seeds germinate and grow into plants
the birds make beautiful sounds
The animals actively move around
When the weather becomes so hot
It’s the time that we enjoy summer shots
the beautiful flowers bloom
the little trees grow soon
the people like going to beaches in the noon
Everyone lives in a would of bright colours
When the leaves begin to fall
it’s time that autumn calls
the farmers reap the golden crops
The animals go around to find their winter food
The mid-autumn festival brings the round moon
The people reunion with the family without gloom
When the weather turns from cool to cold
It’s the time that we put on winter clothes
the white snow dances in the air
The children play like in fun fair
The chilly wind blows in the air with power
The animals hide under shelters with horror
The four seasons bring us admirable pleasures
The nature nurtures the world with many treasures

Chinese New Year MERIT
Jaden Chan 4A
Dragons swaying,
Lion dancing,
Read and gold,
Get rid of the old.
Welcome for the new,
Everyone let’s chill.
Blessing everywhere,
Red packets are what I care.
On the first day,
I went out to watch parade.
On the second day,
I watched firework and say horray.
Eating Chinese cake,
My favourite is radish cake.
I gain a lot of weight,
Work out! I can’t wait.
Going other people’s home,
My mum needs to take the red packets out.
So happy during this holiday,
But it’s time to back to normal day.

A Night at the Haunted Castle MERIT
Lawrence Ma 4B
Luke was running. He didn’t care what was behind him. Suddenly, a swarm of bees blocked his vision. Then he was kidnapped by a gang.
He woke up in a cage in a big empty room. But he didn’t know where he was. He saw heads, heads of the people that were killed in this castle. Then he was scared to the breaking point. The gang leader came out with a pistol in his right hand. Then he said, ‘you will be executed.’ He laughed and left the room.
He tried to break out. But he couldn’t. He tried his sword, too. It didn’t work either as the steel pillars of the cage were too thick for him to break through.
The next day, the gang leader came in again, but this time armed with dynamite. He threw it on the floor and lit it up. Surprisingly, the cage was destructed. He went to the door. But it was locked.
Two hours past, he still couldn’t break out. He was in despair. And then, some of the gang members brought another person with them. He was called James. He was thrown in the room with Luke. Later, they ran around the room searching for explosives or anything. And they found a hole, a hole that just fitted them. They crawled and crawled and at the end, they found a mossy staircase leading down. They also saw heads of skeletons and warriors, and Luke thought, ‘If they killed armed warriors, what would we face? How would we suffer? Will we be killed? Can we escape?’ A lot of thoughts came out of his mind. As they walked down the staircase, they found a mysterious entrance. They went in and they saw…
The gang leader, once again. He drew a circle with his hand, which made a portal, then he vanished into it. Same with Luke and James, they teleported to an obstacle course. A deadly obstacle course. They started leaping over and defeating they had met before. As they jumped over the metal spikes, the gang leader started chasing after them. Luke kicked a spike, and it tripped the boss into the boiling hot lava below.
They completed the obstacle course and opened a door so big. It was enough to fit two giants. They escaped and went back to the safety of the big city.

A Night at the Haunted Castle MERIT
Justin Yip 4B
James was running when something appeared right before his eyes. It was a giant castle.
Lighting crackled above the tallest tower, scaring James out of his guts, while he was recovering from the shock, he tried to study the castle. There were three towers and three spires above the towers. James was scared to his breaking point. As the door opened, James had no choice but to step inside the darkened corridor, shivering not only with cold, also with fear. He saw heads and skeletons of brave dead warriors hanging on the mossy walls.
He went to the spiral staircase and looked up at it. It was so tall James couldn’t see its end. James turned and tried to go back out. But the door was locked. He was in despair. He couldn’t get out of the castle. That meant he wouldn’t be able to see his Mum and dad again. Suddenly, he heard a whispering sound coming from the end of the long corridor. He opened the door, bracing himself for anything. But there was no one, only some beds and wardrobes. He was relieved. He just had to find somewhere to sleep for the night.
He went into another abandoned room and found a giant bed with a mattress as soft and as bouncy as marshmallows. He immediately sank into the bed and fell asleep.
He was woken at midnight by a bell ringing at the top of the tower. He couldn’t resist the urge to investigate and quickly ran up to find out what was happening. He opened the door and saw a transparent man ringing a bell. He screamed as loud as he could but no one could hear except the man. He stopped ringing the bell and looked at James. This was the first time James had caught a good look at the man. He had thin lips and a hooked nose, and a face full of wrinkles. James asked him, “Who are you?”
“I’m Benjamin, the caretaker of this ancient castle. I’ve lived here for almost 2 millennia. I’m trying to find a stone that the owners of this castle had been trying to find. If I can’t find it, the castle will be ruled by ghosts forever. Will you help me?” The old man replied.
James agreed and started searching the castle. He searched in the castle bathroom, but only found a yellow frog hiding in the bathtub, but no stone. Next, he searched the bedroom, opening all the drawers and cabinets, but still no stone. Then, he searched the kitchen, and opened the refrigerator, the cabinet, nearly cut his fingers off the butcher knife, but still no stone. Finally, he searched the tower. He went into a room at the top of the tower, and under the table, behind the chairs, inside the light bulbs. No stone. But on the edge of the windowsill, teetering back and forth, was a stone. James rushed over and grabbed the stone, just barely, and held it up to the light. It was no bigger than his fist, light blue in colour, and very heavy.
Suddenly, he woke up in his bedroom, sunlight streaming in through the open windows, and thought, “I never ever ever want to go back to the castle again.” And fell asleep again. Zzzzzzzzzz

Fruits MERIT
Walcott Wong 4C
I am a huge fan of bananas,
Whose tree look like umbrellas.
It’s like a yellow boat,
On the sea it floats!
I am crazy about strawberries,
Which do not grow on trees.
It tastes sweet and delicious,
Only when it bushes.
I am a big enthusiast of durians,
Which is a popular fruit for Malaysians.
They can be enjoyed in many different ways,
But just don’t do it in upscale cafes!
I am passionate about a fruit called passion,
Which contains a variety of nutrition.
It prevents high blood pressure and cancer,
It saves you a fortune on seeing a doctor.
Thank our heavenly Father,
For all the fruits You offer.
So that our lives can be more fruitful,
So that the earth can be more beautiful.
