An Unforgettable Trip SECOND PLACE
Isaac Cheung 3B
It was a cold night. The wind was blowing hard and the rain was falling like a child’s tears. Although the weather was not so good, my family, my friends and I were very excited. We all wore raincoats and held some illuminating equipment on our hands. We were ready to walk in the dark. Oh! I almost forgot to tell you where we were. We were in the Kenting National Park in Taiwan.
Last week, I went to this National Park in Taiwan with my family and friends at night. It was my first time to go into a dark forest. I was very thrilled and I couldn’t wait to explore the amazing nature. We followed the tour guide of the park and started our journey in the forest.
In the park, I saw a frog resting on the grass and a spider crawling around on some pebbles. Also, saw caterpillars moths and butterflies in it. After explanation by the tour guide, I knew more about the evolution of butterflies. It’s really fantastic! Suddenly, one of my friends screamed, “Oh, a snake is over there!” We all rushed to have a look at it. The snake had a triangular head, a green body and a red tail. The tour guide reminded us to keep away from it as it was poisonous. I was shocked but I was curious to explore more about it. So I took lots of photos of it with my dad’s camera.
I enjoyed walking in the forest to discover the beautiful world. It was an unforgettable trip and I am looking forward to the next one.

I had a magic finger. One day... THIRD PLACE
Enoch Kan 3A
One day, while I was sleeping. I heard an old man saying to me that he would give me a magic finger as a special gift and hoped that I would make good use of it. Then, when I woke up, I saw a flash of light flying out of my finger, I thought this must be the special gift the old man had mentioned.
“How am I going to make use of this magic finger?” I asked myself. Suddenly, I had a brilliant idea. I should use it to help people who are in need. So, when I got out of my door and saw a beggar with no food, I turned a rock into food so that the poor beggar would not starve. When I passed the farm, I also used my magic finger to turn the rubbish and wastes into water for the farmers to irrigate. So, the farmers no longer needed to worry about drought.
Then, when I walked further along the road, I came across a child sitting on the street. He was crying loudly. So I asked him why.
“I was caught by a robber and he brought me here! I want to see my daddy and mummy again!” cried the boy desperately.
“No worries, let me help you!” I said to the boy. Then when my finger pointed to the tree behind the boy, his parents suddenly appeared! The boy was so happy that he immediately burst into tears and cried “Daddy and Mummy, I missed you a lot!”
So, very soon, the whole town knew that I had a magic finger and I would use it to help other people. Then, everyone liked me very much.

The Rails MERIT
Lance C Lau 3A
At the dawn of rails,
there were only horses with tails.
Bringing carts
to the marts!
Then came the age of steam,
The engines made to gleam.
Produced in the millions,
Or maybe in the zillions!
After that came diesel,
And no, not a weasel.
It streaked past the steam ones,
taking on a ride some nuns.
Then the pantographs were made,
And without a blade.
For the electric trains to run,
To carry seventy tonnes.
Finally came the high-speed trains,
Almost as quick as planes.
Zooming all the way downtown,
Totally with not a frown.
Without a delay,
Or a relay,
Our trusted high-speed trains,
Can cross the plains,
From South Africa to North,
In just six days going forth.
Now I’ve summarized the history of the railway,
So thank the builders who worked every day,
And of course,
Thank the workforce,
Of engineers.
Whose brain gears,
Had worked so very well.

My Dog MERIT
Kevin Kwong 3D
I have a lovely dog.
Its name is ‘Cop’.
It doesn’t like to talk, but walk.
Though sometimes it gets lost in a fog.
When the weather is hot,
It likes to go out to climb on a rock
and jump over a big log.
It also likes to play with the frog
in a pond.
When it returns home, it can open the lock.
It can clean the floor with a mop
and water the plants in a flowerpot.
It can draw with a chalk
on a board.
It also knows how to chop
a tree.
It will sometimes sing in its blog.
It attracts a lot
of fans to his blog
It’s really an amazing dog!

Family MERIT
Benedict Cheung 3E
We all have a unique garden in our heart.
It is planted with love and care from the start.
Memories of happiness and sweetness that we all share,
are blooming flowers and pleasant scents you find there.
Sounds of singing and laughing, arguing and fighting all year round,
are symphonies from chirping birds and buzzing bees flying around.
Breezes of tenderness, sunshine of laughter and showers of tears,
sow seeds of understanding deeply planted each passing year.
As for seasons, spring, summer, autumn and winter go like a cycle.
Days and nights, our family connection never ends like a circle.
Of all blessings life may bring, our family surely means the most.
Of all treasures I should cherish, our family definitely comes first.

Abracadabra MERIT
Jayden Ng 3E
I had a magic finger. One day, I was in my backyard. I saw a little bird lying on the grass and its wings were broken. I put my magic finger on the bird and said the magic spell “Abracadabra!” After a few seconds, the little bird started to move. It flapped its wings and flew off happily.
I was on my way to the park another. When I was walking past a dog park, I saw a dog sadly lying on the floor. I went closer and found that its left front leg was caught in a trap. I removed the trap quickly and found that the dog’s leg was seriously hurt. I put my magic finger on the dog and said the magic spell “Abracadabra!” The dog stood up slowly and walked slowly. It barked at me joyfully and seemed to be saying “thank you!” to me.
The power of my magic finger can cure anything. Once I put my magic finger on wounded animals, plants or people, they get cured. I will keep using my magic finger to help people, animals or plants. Hope everyone has a healthy life!

Chocolate Crush MERIT
Malcolm Wong 3E
I had a magic finger, one day, I turned myself invisible. First I felt scared then I was overjoyed.
“Hooray!” I exclaimed.
First thing I did was to sneak into a chocolate factory. I had dreamt of doing it for a long time.
“That was easy,” I said.
It was full of annoying machine sounds. I hurried to the production line. Wow! There were layers and layers of conveyor belts filled with tracks of chocolate. It was full of delicious smells. I kept on eating chocolate after chocolate, white, dark, hazelnut filled…until I could not eat anymore.
“Burrrrp! Excuse me.” I said.
However, I was quite disappointed that I could not see the chocolate river like the one August Gloop fell into, in Willy Wonka’s Chocolate factory.
Suddenly, I was blinded by lots of cell phones flashing at me and people were even taking selfies with me. I was surrounded by a large crowd.
Gosh! No wonder, my magic was gone, and I had eaten so messily that I looked like a boy made completely out of chocolate!
“Help! Don’t push me around!” I cried.
Suddenly, I heard a familiar voice, “Time to go to school.”
Wow, what a fascinating 4D dream! The smell of chocolate was still lingering in my room. When I was ready to wash myself, I looked closely in the mirror. My mouth was covered with chocolate…uh?
