My Sea Adventure SECOND PLACE

“A letter with a black envelope, Ron!” I shouted. I opened it carefully, it said, “The lives of all the sea creatures are in your hand. The map will tell you where the three keys are. Find them and go to the Sea Dragon Castle. They need your help.” “Look! The three keys are near Lamma Island. Let’s Go!” I yelled.
We put on our special swimsuits. We could shoot ink when you said, “Hello”. We could even breathe in the sea with it. We reached he place where the first key was. There was a shark and it was sleeping. Ron swam there quietly and got the key and we swam away.
The place where the second key was hidden was called “Giantland”. The giants were having a feast. I saw the key on a chair, so I swam closer and closer but I kicked one of the giants carelessly. Surprisingly, he disappeared suddenly. We took the key and went to the last place.
We zoomed to the third place. There was a wicked witch. “Abracadabra!” We were spelled and couldn’t move. I said, “hello”. The ink came out and the wicked witch fell down, even the spell was broken and we got the key. We set off to the Sea Dragon Castle.
When we arrived, we saw the king outside the castle. We unlocked the three boxes. They were shocked because the sea creatures were all shrunk in the boxes. They were all free at last. The king asked, “Thank you very much, boys! I can give you a wish. What do you want?” “We don’t want any wishes; we win our courage to face all the difficulties.” I said.

Last month was an unforgettable month because it was my first sea adventure. I went on a sea adventure with my brother and my dad.
We bought a big ship from a cruise shop. It was a big pirate ship, so we sailed out to the Southern Seas to Australia because we wanted to see the coral reef. I was very excited at that moment, but we saw a lot of pirates on the way. We fought them too. I always thought we would lose all of the battles, but we won all. It was very surprising. What I remembered most was when we fought the skeleton pirates. I thought it was very hard to win over them but we did it. First, their ship had blocked our way to Australia. They had said that they wanted our money, food and treasure. My little brother was extremely afraid of the appearances of the skeletons. They had long fingernails, a small head with one green eye, black skin and a sword pierced through their heads. I said, “You don’t need to be afraid of them.” Then, I pushed a big red button on the ship’s control panel. BOOM, a big cannon flew out from the bottom of the ship. BANG, their ship had blown up! We saw pirates floating and shouting for help. WE didn’t care about them and kept going.
On the way to Australia, we saw an enormous whale that almost crunched our ship. I wanted to know what kind of whale that was. My dad said it was a big white whale. It could eat fish and even humans! We tried to escape the whale, but it smacked our ship. Then our ship began spinning very fast like hyper-speed. Twenty-nine days and twenty hours later, we were in Australia.
When we knew we were in Australia, we wore our swimming suits and dived into the ocean. It was a coral reef. We saw a lot of fish and corals. We saw some clown fish, stingrays and sharks.
In this trip, I knew about fish and pirates. Next time, I will not go for another sea adventure again because it is too dangerous!

My Sea Adventure MERIT

I am a young chubby polar bear with silvery fur. I once lived at the North Pole, but the temperature was getting higher and higher, and at the same time the ice was melting a little bit every day. A few years later, the ice completely melted! There was only one thing to do – my family jumped into the sea, and the journey began…
In the sea, we saw an octopus blocking our way. It said, “Do you want to have eight legs like me? I can teach you how.” I said, “Of course. I can swim much faster with eight legs.” It waved its eight long legs gracefully and said, “Pay me a worm that you brought, please.” And we did, but it grabbed our whole bag of worms and pushed us away! We were furious, but the sly octopus had gone away quickly.
Suddenly, I felt very hot, I first thought that we were near the equator, but I was wrong. The hear was made by an evil witch! She said, “I shall cool the seawater only if you give me your son.” We were extremely scared. Fortunately, a diver saw us and splashed some freshwater on the witch’s head, and she died.
Minutes later, we saw a large net and I accidentally dropped in it! My parents were frightened and tried to take me out of the net, but it was too late. I swam up and up, and saw a fisherman! He said, “A polar bear? I thought it is a fish! Why are you here?” I said, “The ice at the North Pole completely melted, so I have to go to the South Pole! Please, free me!” He said, “I can take your family to a park called Ocean Park. You can live there, and be shown in the Polar Bear Pavilion.” I agreed, and at last we lived in the Pavilion happily ever after, until now.
Next time, if you come to Ocean Park, do come to the Polar Bear Pavilion to visit us, and the most important thing is to stop global warming and save the Earth!

Sea Creature MERIT
Justin Lau 4B
It lives in the sea
It also swims free
When it’s tummy is empty
It would eat in plenty
It has a long tail and fins
It always uses them to swim
It has rows of teeth
It uses its gill to breathe
It usually swims in the deep
It barely ever sleeps
When it sees a seal
The seal would become its meal
It has small and sharp eyes
If you see it, say goodbye
Because it will have you eaten
Don’t think you can have it beaten
When it attacks, don’t shout
Just hit it in the snout
Its colour is very dark
Because it is a shark

The “Aqua-poem” MERIT
Marcus Leung 4B
As the dawn breaks and the dew drops,
It sinks into the soil and seeps into the oceans.
It meets its friends there but not for long
for the seagulls swallow them up without emotions.
The tiny drop settles on the ground again
as the seagulls’ answer to the Nature’s call.
The cycle of water is the cycle of life.
Water has been on our side
against the brutal fire:
“Cool down the engine!”
“Put out the fire!”
This glass – like fluid,
for centuries and more,
keeps us company.
But water is also our critical friend.
It submerges the polluted land,
its level becomes elevated
and threatens Maldivian men.
Nature has never been wrong.
Water urges our helping hands.
Do not leave our future unplanned!

Today, I went snorkeling and I had a special, epic, weird and awesome adventure. And guess what? I met a mega electric eel!
This morning, I decided it was the best day to go snorkeling, so I went to a lonely and deserted beach and I soon found out why. There, on the sandy beach was a sign. And on the sign, there were a few words. And the words were “Dare you dive in? Deep in the water lurks a new breed of beast” I thought that sign was fake, so I ignored it and jumped deep down into the ocean. Everything seemed calm until I noticed suddenly that all the life in the water was gone. Something terrible must have happened!
I swam deeper into the sea and found a maze made out of coral. I started to get worried. But still, I swam along the tunnel. The only light came from some sort of glowing jellyfish. While I was swimming, I felt enormous shockwaves coming from the water ahead. After a while, I figured out I should be in the middle of the maze because I was in a great round coral ball with tunnels leading to it. Everything felt peaceful, until I looked at the floor. I gasped. Lying on the ocean bed were tons and tons of skeletons. Some blasters and some ancient weapons. I picked a pearl spear. It was an ancient weapon, but rarely powerful. The tunnel ahead filled with a shape. I did not know what it was at first, but right now, I could tell you, the electric eel had arrived.
A head edged through the water, almost as wide as the tunnel. The creature’s skin was as smooth and white as a beach pebble, gleaming in the faint light. Two tiny unblinking eyes like dull black marbles watched me. The Beast’s body followed, huge lengths of snaking pale flesh spilling into the shadowy cavern. As the creature’s tail finally slid from the tunnel, the body formed into a tight coil filling almost half the cavern. Its staring head came to rest over its back and its lipless mouth parted to reveal jagged, closely-packed teeth. I made out a robotic harness behind its neck. Metal clasps and coils of cable sat next to the eel’s flesh – the mechanism of some human rubbish stuck to the eel’s side. I lifted my pearl spear, pointing directly at the eel. Suddenly, the eel darted forward, straight towards me. I braced, my feet touching the seabed. I suddenly felt electricity surge through me. I was stunned, but why? It was because there were pieces of metal all over the coral, and the metal can conduct electricity. I looked at the furious eel diving towards me. There was no time to lose. Move, legs! I willed. My left foot twitched, warm feeling flooding in, then, my right foot. Move, arms! I managed to cup my hands and pull myself through the water. After that, I swam through the water, using the spear to dodge the sparks flying through the water. The beast tried to follow, getting in a tangle with its own snaking tail. I swam up to its neck and rammed the spear into the harness’s latches. Sparks flew everywhere. I threw a glance backwards and saw the cavern wall approaching. It I didn’t jump off, I’d be crushed against it and fried to a crisp! I summoned all my strength to my arms. “If the harness doesn’t come off,” I thought, “I’d be –” There was a click and a snapping sound. The harness fell down to the ocean floor. After that, all the metal clasps slowly dropped to the ocean floor. The eel looked at me, as though saying thank you. Her black eyes were shining and looked alive now, full of intelligence and kindness. The electric eel was no longer a threat.
This adventure tells us that no matter what, never waste, do not put garbage into the ocean. Even though you think that ocean waste can only make the ocean dirtier, it can cause extremely terrible things to happen. Just like what happened to that poor eel. If you don’t want more of these terrible things to happen, we have to work together to save the ocean!

“GET BACK TO WORK!!!” my mother yelled at the top of her lungs. Yet, I was secretly building a time machine as quickly as I could. I headed straight for the store room and clambered in the machine. I accidentally changed the word “time” to “destination”. Once I pressed start, a deafening “BOOM” shook the house…and the bottom of the sea.
I was expecting to see my own house, but before I could think, I stepped out of the machine to be socked in the stomach by a manta ray. A second later, a school of fish sped like missiles under my trousers. I got a clear view of the sea, but not long – a squid had squirted ink in my face. Cough. Cough. Cough. When the smoke cleared, I saw why the turtles went careening on the sea bed, and why flying fish whizzed like torpedoes. An army of bull sharks were chasing them. Suddenly, a glint caught my eye. It was the teeth of a baby shortfin mako shark! It told me to jump on its back. It was then I realized I could breathe, see, speak and hear! I leaped on the pup and zoomed off.
We finally stopped at a cove. The shark trusted me and didn’t leave me. I cooked fish in a cave filled with air. The shark couldn’t resist but flop in the cave to steal some fish.
At daytime, I shooed off big sharks with a sword. I named the sword “Excalibur”. At nighttime, the little shark scared away tiny but poisonous creatures. One day, I had enough fish and decided to have lobsters. I accidentally stumbled upon Blackbeard’s cave. I thought it would be full of gold, so I hurried back and took a bag and took Speedy with me. Speedy was the name of the shark. But it was much less than I thought. Only two rubies. I didn’t give up, and neither did Speedy. Soon, we found a metal door. We opened it and gasped. Columns of gold. Heaps of silver coins. Mounds of bronze coins. Piles of jewellery. I stuffed three slabs of gold in my bag and filled the rest with silver coins. I stuffed rubies in my shirt pockets and sapphires in my jacket pockets. Then, I stuffed bronze coins in my trouser pockets. At last, I held a tank in my left hand and a gigantic glowing diamond in my right hand. Then we went back to the machine. I stepped in and the shark darted in the tank. A deafening “BOOM” sounded. Then, I stepped out of the machine. Home sweet home!
I donated the coins, sold the gold and kept the jewellery. Then, I remembered why I got myself in this mess. I time-travelled two days back, and I started to study for my coming test.
