A Letter to God SECOND PLACE

Dear God,
First of all, I would like to introduce myself to you. My name is Ian, I am eight and a half years old. I study at Ying Wa Primary School. Have you heard of my school? My school is designed for boys, it is prestigious, fun and has a lot of activities in there.
May I share a secret in my heart to you? On the 3rd December, 2014, my grandfather passed away because of heart attack. It happened all of a sudden, which was very hard for us to accept.
My Grandfather loved me so much, he was such a great grandfather, he is a gorgeous cook in the house and a good friend of mine. He played chess with me every weekend. We always watched movies together. Whenever we watched Harry Potter and I got scared, he would hold me and tell not to be afraid. Sometimes, my grandfather oven practiced kung-fu with me.
I know he is in the heaven with you, I know he must be very happy now. However, I miss him every day and night. I wish I could see him, hold him and talk to him. I wish I could tell him how much I miss him and love him.
Dear God, would you please tell my grandfather to appear in my dream? Would you please take good care of my grandfather?

I’m afraid South Pole is no longer a place that you can stay!
So, something we should do without delay.
Polar bear, polar bear, how long can you wait?
North Pole is getting warmer and warmer,
I’m afraid North Pole is no longer a place that you can stay!
So, something we should do without delay.
The earth is getting sick day after day,
Icebergs at two poles are melting in a speedy way!
Pollution can’t be stopped anyway,
So, something we should do without delay.
Penguin and polar bear, shall we be friends?
Shall we make everything recycled as much as we can?
Shall we use electric car instead of petroleum van?
I think we can, we can save your life hand in hand.

My Favourite Place MERIT

I love to visit different places. Do you know what is my favourite places? It is Ocean Park in Hong Kong.
Ocean Park is a great place, where you can go on a lot of exciting rides and watch different fantastic shows. I am especially attracted by the games booths at Whiskers Harbour Games Zone. I always win many prizes there such as giant teddy bears, toy crabs and giant mandarin oranges, How lucky I am!
Moreover, I am very impressed by the Sea Jelly Spectacular, where I can see numerous fluorescent sea jellies of different sizes, shapes and colours from around the world. I particularly love to play the interactive Shadow Game to touch the sea jellies. I also love to play hide-and-seek with them in the Mirror Maze. What a wonderful place!
I am really fond of Ocean Park. I wish I could live with sea jellies at Ocean Park. Ha! Ha! Can my wish come true one day?

Recently, the disease recurred and her health got worse gradually. Now she can’t move and she needs to stay in bed all the time. Even worse, she is very weak and she can’t even take care of herself.
I always dream of the lovely time of playing Lego and card games with her. I hope she will recover one day.

The Planet Party MERIT

The planets had a party,
They picked a party place,
They asked the galaxy,
To save them each a space.
To which the galaxy
Said, “Sure, I’d be delighted!
‘Cause that’s the thing I do best,
I’m glad to be invited!
Galaxy have some party snacks,
and party cake and candy.
His big round empty middle
Sure came in very handy!
Galaxy saved a space for every planet at the party,
The sun came first and said, “I bring the light to warm the party.”
The Mercury came next and said “I bring a friend with me.”
“We go together everywhere – we’re like twins, you see.”
Mercury and Venus were dancing with stars,
When he was met by Earth
They were joined by Mars,
Who said, “Come On, let’s waltz.”
There come Jupiter and Saturn,
“This is my dream of heaven!”
When he noticed Uranus,
Uranus said, “I’m not late!”
And started filling up his plate!

Coming up the walk and then,
Up the path came Pluto!

A Happy Trip MERIT

My visit to Taipei last summer holiday was a joyful and memorable trip. To me, Taipei is a modernized city with the landmark building Taipei 101. However, my family took me to experience the traditional and old fashioned aspects of Taipei.
We stayed in a hot spring hotel in the outskirts of Taipei city. My elder brother and I enjoyed hot spring inside the hotel room, we splashed water to each other using wooden pails and it was a never ending water fight.
The next day, we took an old fashioned train to Shifen station. It was my first time to walk on the train rail and take photos there. Suddenly, I heard the siren and a train came over. My brother and I jumped off the rail and screamed loudly “Run for your life!”
Shifen is a famous place in Taipei for sky lanterns. My family and I bought a sky lantern, we wrote car wishes on the lantern and let it rise in the sky. It was amazing to see so many lanterns drifting in the clear sky.
I am delighted to have learned and experienced the culture of Taipei in this trip. It was an unforgettable memory and I hope I can go to Taipei with my family again very soon.
