Bridging YWPS and YWC — fun time at English Corner

[31 Apr] 13 P.5 boys were invited to visit the English Corner of Ying Wa College this afternoon right after lunch. They had a fruitful time interacting with YWC's English teachers and students before and after watching an inspirational video about a handicapped wrestler. Our boys wrote some very reflective feedback afterwards.

We hope that there will be more opportunities for our boys to experience life in Ying Wa College so that they can be better prepared for their next six years in Ying Wa!

We thank our YWC colleagues for such a wonderful arrangement for our boys.

This is a very good opportunity for us Ying Wa boys to experience the college and get ready for their 6 years at YWC. Also, there was a very good chance for YWPS boys to talk to YWC students and teachers! Overall, very well organized event! 😀

It’s a wonderful experience to experience life in YWC. It’s an honour to meet the teachers and friendly students. Thus, we also learned an important and meaningful lesson, which is to never give up. I hope that there will be more chances for Ying Wa boys to go to Ying Wa college and learn English.

Thank you, Dr. Lee, for allowing me to have the prestigious chance of participating in an English Corner activity of YWC! 😊 This session not just broadens my horizons, it also unveil the secrets of the normally off-limit YWC campus. I alongside with a few other classmates had a lovely chat with some YWC elder brothers, gaining a peek into the life of a secondary student. We also viewed a film about a wrestler without legs and how he overcame his difficulties, learning that you don’t need to have legs to leave a footprint on Earth. All in all, it was an extremely thought-provoking event.

Thank you Dr Lee for allowing us to go to the Ying Wa College and participate in their 'English Corner Activity' for the first time ever. It was a fun and valuable experience, we also had a great time hanging out and talking with the Ying Wa College 'brothers'. I really enjoyed it! ^^ 🙂😀

This English Corner Session of YWC was a very interactive event. Learning about Zion and his disabilities, and how he overcame them was an inspiring and intriguing lesson for all of us. The discrimination against him was baring its jaws, ready to swallow him whole, but he kept a firm and calm hand on his sanity and took on an unlikely passion despite having no legs : wrestling. The college student that interacted with us was always opening up gaps and crevices for new vantage points and activity room which opened up wide conversation topics. He was humorous and had a whimsical attitude, changing it with flexibility when necessary. Many thanks to him.

Thanks to Dr Lee for giving me this wonderful opportunity to participate in this event. In the end, I learnt much more than just Zion’s determination and unwavering spirit. The YWC brother in my group gave me advice about my future job and opened up a large variety of different points of views. Alternatively, he stated that there were much more than one moral in Zion’s story. And he was right. “ A discrimination against discrimination “ was another one. Although he had a major disability compared to other people, his wrestling coach did state that he was one of the best things that ever happened to him, noting his calm demeanour and attitude towards facing his situation. Many thanks to Dr Lee, YWC students, and all the teachers and students that were present there. This was a brilliant lesson for me, and I shall treasure it above all sacred jewels.

This was a really a fun bridging event between YWPS and YWC.The video was very touching. It let me learn that we should never give up.Overall,it was a interesting experience to let us know how YWC lessons were taught.Many thanks to our's and YWC's teachers and students!

Thank you Dr.Lee for giving this opportunity to experience this activity in the college.This let me see a lot of new things like the college campus which we cannot go to normally.The video we watch was very touching and inspiring.It also taught us some life lessons so thank you ywc teachers for preparing this magnificent activity for us to learn and interact with the college students.During this video,I learnt that everyone has their own challenges in their life and you need to overcome them.Most importantly,don’t hide from the challenges or you won’t have the opportunity to improve yourself.

Thank you very much Dr Lee and teachers of the senior sections for such an unforgettable and fantastic experience. After watching the video about Zion Clark, the handicapped wrestler, I've learnt to never take criticisms to heart and never give up. I also had a fun opportunity to chat with a fellow college student and think deeper into college. Overall this was a very well prepared and executed event, thank you for all the opportunities for me to explore deeper into English!
