Congratulations to Matthew Chan (6E) receiving the awards of "Commendation" and "Poets of the School" at the Hong Kong Budding Poets (English) Award 2016/2017.

His commended poem will be published in the yearly anthology of the Hong Kong Budding Poets (English) Award. Also, each Poet of the School award is only given to the most outstanding poet of a school which submitted a good number of high standard poems to this competition. Therefore, Matthew's being named as the Poet of the School implies that YWPS's poetry submission was highly regarded as well.

I am so honored to have this award, and I was delighted working for a poem for this competition. Although it may take a long time, but the effort was paid off at last. I really enjoyed reading and writing things that are poetry-related, 'cause you can really learn a lot through these processes and have fun with poems.
The fun thing about poetry is that it comes in so many different ways and different styles. Each of the poets are unique, and you can really taste the different flavors of every piece. Dr Lee always says poetry is a kind of artwork, I think so too. You can write them to express feelings, show your creativity, and you can do these with artwork too.
My advice to everyone is that I hope you all can try to enjoy and read more poems, and really try to write one yourself. You'll have a lot of fun through that, just as enjoying when I was crafting this poem for the budding poets award.
