One of YWPS's unique events - Speech Gala - has its Grand Finals held yesterday (14 Feb) at our school hall. We were fortunate enough to have had Ms Tanya Kempston, lecturer at HKU and experienced language arts judge, adjudicating our speech and drama event this time.
This is our 7th year running the event, and the finals were as competitive as ever! I was personally amazed by the P.5-6's Duologue and Public Speaking performances the most, with these events only existing at secondary school levels at the Hong Kong Speech Festival! Our boys delivered their acts so maturely and stunningly whether or not they were experienced as a stage performer. After all, Speech Gala is a celebration of English as an art form for all. We particularly welcome students who might yet to have a lot of successes in the areas of speech and drama.
Everybody tried their very best showing their most impressive performance to their peers and the adjudicator. Embraced by the beautiful voices and the vibrant energy from the audience, I am glad to have witnessed another year of dramatic blast!
I sincerely thank the School Headmistress and all the English teachers of YWPS for creating and valuing the magic of the Speech Gala! And of course, I thank our devoted boys, for whom the Gala was invented.
While videos of the event will come out shortly, in the meantime, visit our gallery and be entertained by the glorious faces of our performers, audience, and a very satisfied adjudicator!

P.S. Ms Kempston sent me the following message:
"It was a joy to come to the Speech Gala yesterday. The standard was very high across all the categories and the accuracy of the pronunciation was of a particularly high level. The students really gave their best effort and I could see there was careful thought which went into the preparation. lt was a very professional event indeed! Thank you again for inviting me."
