[29 Nov] Our boys have created more miracles at the 75th Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival as they won for the 7th time in this challenging category of Thematic Group Speaking since we first joined it at the 66th festival.
As if winning the 7th time was not impressive enough, these 9 boys performed an act so brilliant that melted the heart of the Adjudicator who gave them a record-breaking 94 marks! I personally don't remember any group (or even solo performer) in our school receiving such a high score at the Speech Festival in our 20 years of history.
Ajudicator Mr Owen praised them for their vocal strength, emotion quality and clarity. And he admitted that he seldom saw a group like ours with every member (regardless of roles) engaging at such a high level.
A fun fact is that this year YWPS was the only team entering the Thematic Group Speaking (Primary) class. And therefore, insteading of having a "competitive" mood, they were directed into the thought of reaching at least the level of their former schoolmates participating in Thematic Group Speaking -- that is a score of 88.
And it turned out that they did more than attaining the expected standard. I congratulate them and am proud of them.
