Beijing Tour for P.6 - A Reflective Journey

4/8/2016

Picture
The graduation study tour for our Primary Six boys this year brought 200 YWPS people (boys, parents and teachers) to Beijing (1-5 Apr 2016). While our boys will have their share of reflection very soon through writings and presentations, I still would love to share a little here.

In spite of my incompetence of Putonghua, I  had the honour to take a group in 6D and was with this class most of the time throughout this tour. There was a great deal to learn in terms of, for instance, history, way of living in the city, transport system, food culture, and most important of all, we know more about ourselves.

Among the numerous interesting moments in the tour,  I found that:
Picture
boys enjoy floating in the air and taking pictures of that;
Picture
you could all become "great men" regardless of your age;
Picture
it is sometimes hard to predict what boys will do in front of the camera;
Picture
"google translation" could be a bad idea;
Picture
boys always have the ability to turn places into "wonderland";
Picture
but they do work seriously when they have to;
All in all, I have no doubt that we had chosen the right place to visit for these graduates-to-be and while they had a lot of fun, they had learnt more than they knew.
Picture
Our children are so fortunate to be able to experience the world so easily and frequently. Learning out of the classroom is important and it goes well with YWPS's spirit in that we should always think out of the box and see the world in different perspectives. These kids are capable of excelling out of their comfort zone and bringing back so much new knowledge to benefit their own community and country.

This is only a small part of what I saw. Boys, do prolong this experience and keep it fresh in your learning journey - this is certainly an experience for life!

I enjoyed the tour very much. This was the first time that I went to explore with my friends at outside Hong Kong. In this trip, I took care on my own without my parents. It is challenging to all of us.
P.S "google translation" really can't be trust. We Chinese should learn better English and write English correctly without using apps.

In addition, The most memorable part of the trip was the day when we visited the Military Camp, the soldiers' discipline was clearly shown in their rooms and their neat performance. (Their blankets were folded like tofu!)
I also got a little souvenir from the school that we visited, the Luban lock, this toy can show the wisdom of Chinese culture as the toy only consists a few pieces of wood but it is a really fun and difficult toy.

The Beijing Study Tour was definitely a valuable experience for our kids. The tour was tailor made for Ying Wa boys. Throughout the tour, students visited various places in Beijing. They not only learned a lot about history and culture, they also got lots of opportunities to learn about their friends and themselves.

It was my second time to Beijing, My last trip to Beijing was thirty years ago. Which one did I enjoy most? Of course, it was the second one. It was because I got my dear students and my dear colleagues. We woke up at five thirty the latest every morning and started our learning.I just loved the trip because of the happy faces around me. When will my next visit to Beijing? Another thirty years? Hope not.

Through out the enjoyable trip from Beijing, I have known a lot of new faces of my classmates that made me feel amazed. Someone loves to cry when excited, someone is scared when they go to new places...... As what Gordon Ramsay said, we should go out of our comfort zones so we can learn. What he said makes me think of Kung fu Panda 3 which tells me that there must be something that we didn't know we can do so we should try all the time. Just express it and don't be shame when we may have done something embarrassing. So this trip is definitely an ultra learning improvement for everyone!

I was very honoured to be led by Dr.Lee. During this tour, I had a lots of memorable moments with my team
mates. We also get to know more about our friends, teachers and even ourselves! If I have to use one word to sum-up my comments, it would be "worth-it".

This was my first time to Beijing. During the trip, I learnt that we had to be independent. It was because most of the students' parents did not follow their children to Beijing. Without their parents, I could see some of my classmates did not know how to take care themselves properly. Anyway, this was a great experience for us to learn a new culture. It also consolidated our friendships.

This was my second time to go to Beijing but it was the first time to go to Beijing with all the classmates or it may be the last time too! During this trip I learnt that i needed to do things by ourselves without our parents helping! It was a bit hard at the first time but after this trip I learnt how to take care of myself or even my friend. I also learnt a lot of the history of the summer palace known as the King's summer garden. The bad thing was the toilet was so smelly and dirty, but overall it was a good trip!

What a wonderful trip! This is the first time I went to Beijing and this trip is more than a "vacation", but also an excellent learning experience. It is also the first time I went to a trip/tour without my parents, so to me, it is also a wonder chance to learn how to be responsible for our own life, and try to cooperate with our classmates.

This Beijing trip is really a memorable and abundant trip for all of the P.6 students. I learnt to take care myself and to communicate with people. The most memorable part of the trip is the day when we visited the Military Camp, the soldiers' spirit of protecting the Country was shown clearly in the performance, I learnt that we have to love our country. Although I did not buy any souvenirs for myself, it is a very memorable experience of my life. :P

I actually think that there should me more people studying Chinese-English translation in Beijing for their tourism's future. Yet, Beijing impressed me a lot of their rich Chinese culture. It's just that they should think more of the daily traffic jams...

My enjoyable trip to Beijing on Easter holiday and first time went with all my classmates; I went to the Great Wall to see the beautiful views of the mountains. For the people built it a long time ago. It was a long wall with towels on it. I also went to the Summer Palace to see the ancient buildings. I also went to the Tian'anmen Square to see the soldiers raising the Chinese national flag. For this trip I felt proud of our country and had a good trip for me to learn a lot of history, culture and friendship.

I think this tour is the most successful traveling experience I have had. This trip has a deep meaning for me. It is not only for fun, I have learned a lot, like thinking from others' point of view. What makes me surprise is that I find I am good at a lot of things that I don't know. I have improved skill in taking photograph and using money. As there was only 5 days, we could only spend little time in every place. So I hope I can visit Beijing again!

I think the most memorable experience of the whole Beijing tour is the part where we climbed the Great Wall. Although my group mates and I had only climbed four small sections, we were seriously tired and I do not know why could the soldiers withstand the brutal trek. I learnt that we must be persistence and shall not give up.
