Day 4 in action! Read on...
From Horace Choi:

Today we learnt a lot in our lessons in the morning. Next, in the afternoon, we had a chance to walk around Cambridge with our mentors.

Tom, our friendly mentor, took us to a hill first. It was called Castle Hill and we could see the whole Cambridge on the peak. We took lots of pretty photos there.

Next we went to a market. We saw a stall selling different kinds of rocks and I decided to buy a special one. Guess what? It was a piece of fossilised poo! It came from a turtle 96 million years ago.

At last, of course we went to the nearby supermarket and bought some snacks! It was phenomenal walking around central Cambridge, seeing different things. However I am sure that the Harry Potter studio tomorrow will be as exciting!
From Tom Kwok:

We were all very sad when we knew that our play was postponed, we had been all very excited for that.

Anyway, we ended our classes and found out that we had a whole free day in Cambridge! Our mentor took us up the castle hill and we saw the amazing view of the whole Cambridge. It was awesome!! We also got to the market place where my friend bought an ancient poop of a turtle! We had the fun game of football again and we would sleep soundly after the wonderful day!

From Lachlan Lai:

4th August, 2016

Dear Diary,

I can finally have a rehearsal with my teammates for the music concert at the end if the tour. Hooray for the music!!!

I had lessons at Sawston once again and the drama was so funny again. My drama team and I went out to the grassland right out of the classroom to practise our drama. There were funny stories along with the story plot that made us laugh. It was full of joy.

After the lessons, there was a delicious lunch. Today's lunch was special with very fresh salmon. It was well cooked and hot which my group and I liked the most among the dishes. As it was limited that you could only get one. My friend knew that I liked it that he gave me half of his salmon to me! I was so happy!

And for the music rehearsal, it happened to me practising after some game that Ms. Buffy played with my group and other groups. Surprisingly, nurse Mrs. Julia was there to listen Gabriel, Jose and my performance. We were pleased that there was an audience because we could seldomly find audiences to listen to us. Mrs. Julia kept on giving support to us and we were so glad. Although we didn't really play so well comparing to other classmates, Mrs Julia kept on making support!

Today's highlight sport is frisbee which needed you to throw a disc around. It was calm and quiet as we went into the night.

Cheers,

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of observing two lessons conducted by acclaimed Cambridge tutors, and I experienced some high-quality teaching and learning experience from which I guarantee our students had benefitted hugely.

The first lesson was a drama lesson taught by Mr. Muir who is experienced, humorous, and engaging. The atmosphere throughout the lesson was delightful and dynamic, and the interaction between students and teacher was frequent and meaningful. The teacher first aroused the students' empathy towards the British evacuees during WWII by showing them a well-written passage named "Operation Pied Piper". Mr. Muir went through the difficult vocabulary and gave students a general picture of what the article is about before he gave out the passage. Students then were given time to read and get ideas from the article to enrich their own drama script. They were also given time to rehearse, and all students were highly active and enthusiastic.

The second lesson was a history lesson on the life and discovery of Charles Darwin. The lesson was informative and highly educational. Students were intellectually challenged and inspired. The lesson broadened the students' horizons about the origin of life and the evolution of humans.

In general, the lessons were both well-scaffolded with excellent teaching and lesson planning. I am most certain that our boys all enjoyed each day's lessons.
