Engaged, Enchanted, Enhanced

Our Primary Six boys had their final formal lessons yesterday (28 June) before their impending graduation ceremony and coincidentally, the 12 English Enhancement Class participants had their very last lesson of their primary school lives with me in the small room on 6/F (which they will be missing!).

I captured their spontaneous "conclusive statements" on the pull-out programme and created the above video. The "A-list" which a lot of them mentioned was an assignment scheme I always use in which I put student names in a box (a.k.a. the Award List / A-list) on the blackboard indicating those who need to do extra writings on the day. Who gets into the box may or may not be to do with their in-class performance / behaviours (and my decisions can be very unpredicatble ^o^). It's definitely an award to them every time and NOT a punishment because each piece is commented and returned. And to my surprise, a lot of them find it a memorable thing if not the MOST memorable thing in the lessons!

Besides the video, the English Enhancement Class produces this course-end literary journal named ACE - English Enhancement Edition, which has already launched its 3rd issue. This journal displays exemplary works from the participants including poems (free verse, magical realism, rhyming, themed, haibun and symbolic), prose works (wartime, adventure and literary) and essays (including reviews of literature) reflecting some types of writing tasks they have experienced throughout the year.

Other issues and editions of ACE are available here.

I am glad to have produced all these in honour of our boys' extra effort in English language learning. I wish them happy graduation and continue to excel in English in an engaged, enchanted and enhanced fashion!

Happy summer to you all!

Dr H C Lee

I totally find the P.6 enhancement class fun and fruitful! As one of the students there, I'm really honoured to be taught by Dr Lee. The ACE journal is truly packed with knowledge and laughter, with all our enhancement students' good work!
P.S. If I spelled something wrong in here it would be really embarassing!

The ACE journal is an amazing journey , as it records all our stories of the whole year of our ENH class. Thank you Dr. Lee for publishing this wonderful journal for us to learn and review. I will and must treasure this journal, but sadly, we won't have A-list anymore, that's for sure.

For us, the year was totally enjoyable, and so is the video. But don't read the subtitles. It isn't what we meant to say! Also, I think Dr Lee chopped my thinking part into many parts and scattered them across the video. I'm sure I didn't think for so long!

The enhancement class is truly a memorable experience and I really enjoyed it. Before I came into the enhancement class, I was terrible at poetry, drama and writing, and now I have a piece of work in the ACE journal. For this , I thank Dr.Lee at the bottom of my heart

Thank you Dr.Lee for producing for us such a great ACE journal. I truly thank you from the bottom of my heart (not just for the ACE journal, but also for teaching us wonderful language skills and bringing us such an enjoyable 'Enhancement Life'). I'm sure I will remember this wonderful enhancement learning experience.
The video was also great. Actually, I'll say Ambrose did think for a long time. That's true. Or is it? Ask him yourself. Anyway, I'm not surprised that A-List won at the end of the day. It's a nice little game, right? The fun lasts forever. Yeah. Let's see if next year's enhancement will find the A-List fun! I think they won't.
So, thank you Dr.Lee!

First of all, we have to parise our star of the show, who is... You guessed it... Ambrose Young. His 'deep in thought' look treally made us very inspired. (A bit) Ofr course, there should be a thpousand thank\yous that we should all be giving Dr Lee right now, so guess what? Let's give it to him right now! Thankyou, Dr Lee, for being or teacher and so patiently guiding us asd big-headed little fools who thought that they were good at English, to Big headed big fools who nopw really know more about Englisjh literature itself.
The life in Enhancement is tottaly a repentative of the real woprld. You are going to be eager going there to see what you wpould have to do for the day, probably something fun. But, you will also be on edge because you would be ewondering that if you would get an Alist on that very day. Also, A-list, as I had said in the video, isd tottaly a genius idea! You don't realize how important to you before the terms ends, and you look back in the ACE Journal, ands see your work posted all through the pages. (Also, congratulations to A-list for winning. Though it was expected.)
Talking about the Ace journal, we really need to thank Dr Lee a thousand times, AGAIN. Dr Lee really deserves a standing ovation here. The ACE Journal really made me remember all the times I had racked my brains to think of how I would avoid A-List, but still failing in the end. Anyway, it was just the process that really mattered the most.
Also, a word for next year's enhancement class here, if you have any chance to read this, then remember it . DO NOT EVER TRY TO AVOID A-LIST. IT IS YOUR DESTINY TO AT LEAST RIGHT ONE and maybe DO NOT EVER INTERRUPT DR LEE WHEN HE IS SPEAKING. IF YOPUY DO SO, THE RESULTS WOULD NOT BE FAVORABLE AT ALL. Remeber this rules, if you can, and I hope you will enjoy the Enhancement!
I think it is the most appropriate here to write a haiku to end this comment, after all we've been through:
Enhancement, our home,
Where we learn and we grow...
and write A-lists.
Once and for all, thankyou to Dr Lee and all my fellow classmates for creating such an enjoyable experience for all of us!!!!!!!

Really HUGE amount of typos here. You would've been "A-listed" if you were still in my class Cayden! You even misspelled your name! What's wrong with you???!!!
