Exhilarating Experiences in South Korea

11/12/2016

South Korea is one of the countries with the most advanced technology. Look around and you will notice numerous Korean technologies, including famous companies such as Samsung, LG and Hyundai ETC. Teachers of Ying Wa had exhilarating experiences during our educational tour to South Korea (2-6 Nov 2016). The followings are some highlights for your enjoyment!

TeamLab World

TeamLab World allowed us to immerse ourselves in the world of art and technology. The experience was not limited to a touch screen. Teachers were surrounded by digitized images that responded to our motion. In Flower Blossom, if we touch the walls, flowers will blossom, creating an environment for butterflies. In Light Ball Orchestra, when we hit one of the big balls, it will not only change the color but also compose different sounds, orchestrating vibrant music. In Sketch Aquarium, teachers demonstrated the power of creative imagination by sketching their own sea creature and bringing it to life in the digital aquarium by scanning it. Before exiting into the reality again, the 3-dimensional light space blew our imagination into a crystal universe, where our movements affected the light particles and created changes in the installation.

Digital Pavilion

Digital Pavilion offered teachers a look into IT-related products in its ubiquitous lifestyle experience center. In iCar, teachers could design their own car on a tablet PC. In iComestic, teachers could choose the style that best suited them from the virtual make-up images and find the product recommendations. Digital Pavilion demonstrated to us how technology advancements could be applied in our daily life.

KBS

In the KBS tour, teachers experienced radio and television broadcasting production firsthand. In the radio drama studio, teachers experienced how the voices of the characters could be dubbed in the production process. In 9 o'clock news corner, teachers had the chance to act as news reporters and worked out the dialogues within the time limit.

Pop Culture
Picture
The screaming crowd was addicted to the performance of a group of Korean pop singers.
Korea is well-known for its pop culture. Unexpectedly, after the visit to the Digital Pavilion, teachers witnessed how K-pop fans worshipped their idols as there was a music function nearby. Hundreds of K-pop fans gathered under a huge screen, cheering and yelling with excitement whenever they saw their idols appear on screen in the music video. A little away from the screen, close to the street, another hundreds of fans queued up, hoping just to have a glance of their idols upon their arrival!
Have you ever been to South Korea? What do you think about it? Share with us your exhilarating experiences

I think that South Korea is a technique and a developed country. It is impossible to imagine that you can even draw a picture and it will move on the wall. I think it was really amazing that you won't believe your eyes when you see it.
The digital make-up can really save our time(especially) going for a trip. If we use digital make up , we can have more time to try more different kinds of clothes, shoes, pants, or lipstick. But I thing this mashing will be so expensive If we use it in a shop, it may charge for $20 and the price of the goods may be more expensive.
In my opinion, i do not really encourage t use this machine in the shop nor at home.
By the way, I think each person should have more experience so that we can improve our knowledge and catching up with the evolution of technique

I have some thing confused now. I really want to know how can the drawings move on the board so smooth? Is it you need to draw a few pictures and it will change with those pictures?
Can we just point the clothes in the shop and "wear" it on the camera? How long for changing two clothes?
I think those technique is magic, how can they did it.

There must be many unexpected high-technology products! The products will let our life be more convinient ! I wonder how the world will look after 100 years? Maybe all the things is being automatic? No one knows! It might be fun trying to be a radio reporter. But in real life , this job is so exhausting because you need to talk and talk and talk.......But we should really catch up with the evolution of technique!

The museum is very high technology.I Like the digital makeup so that the make up companies can let their costumers to choose what colour they like and have a try. Both of the teachers in the first photo are cool, especially under the colourful background.Actually I have never been to Korea but I had tried the activity on the second photo.Last time I went to a aquarium in Australia.I drew a lot of different fishes and i scanned them all up to the drawing aquarium and i found that only my fishes were on the board as i drew too much!

a very unforgettable experience for our lovely teachers. I very strange question is why it is called team lab but nothing is really related to "team"? But i think the techniques in korea are really evoluting very fastly! Are Dr. Lee and Mrs. Lam really on the korean TV? I think the "aquarium" is quite interesting it also looks really really real.

I think it is called team lab because all those tech products are created and produced by the same team of engineers.

After hearing from you, I think this is a very good opportunity for our teachers to experience some future technologies and apply them in our school. Since the I lab's walls are actually made of the same material of projector's screens, what appeared in the first photo could also be applied in our I lab. (By the way, Dr. Lee, you look excellent in that photo.) I want to ask Dr. Lee and Mrs. Lam, was being a news reporters hard? Was the script hard to memorize? How nervous were you when you were live on TV?

Ha...We simply improvised our way through the conversation! No script! It's always hard to sustain a conversation when it's broadcast live! Mrs Lam is more experienced in this.

I think the most interesting part is Mrs lam and dr lee improvised a conversation as news anchors. It is because it is amazing to see Mrs Lam and Dr Lee doing their program in Korea for the first time. Also they are very lucky that they can try to report the news.

Wow, this experience is so special and memorable. Korea's technology is so advanced and it shows that Korea is definitely not a country behind. Handsome teachers in Flower Blossom and I just can't imagine what the crystal universe will look like.

The KBS tour looks drooling and it catches my attention. Dr Lee and Mrs Lam on television? Great idea. Excellent photos taken. Good experience! New things for me to learn. ^o^

This trip to Korea must be very educational, eyes-opening and full of fun! Firstly, the students in Korea really have different habits compare with those in Hong Kong. Secondly, the high-technical centres are so cool. And I think the part of making kimchi is absolutely fun as well!

It was a great experiment. After reading your writing, Ithink that the teamlab inteerest me the most.It is totally impossible to imagine that what you draw will be post on the screen and you can virtual make up. I think that this is a great invention as that you will not by some products thay you do not like. It looks very real. I do not think that I cannot find out that the blossomand butterflies is virtual. How about you? What place do you like the most?

I personally think that it was a very good experience for the teachers to go to Korea. After reading the passage, I am surprised that Korea is a very advanced country with a lot of high-technology products. I am also amazed that these high-technology products are invented and produced in Korea as in my mind, Japan is used to be the country with leading technology and inventions. This made me wonder what the world would be like in twenty years later which I am sure everything will be even more advanced and high-tech.

After seeing all the smiles on the teachers’ face, I am sure that they all had a great time not only because of the eye opening learning experience but also, the good food. Even though I don't like to eat kimchi, I am sure there are still a lot food that are very yummy.
