Germany Educational Trip - Day 3

5/13/2019

At the entrance of Frankfurt International School
[13 May] I guess that life will be too boring without surprises. We, participants of the Germany Educational Trip, had some wonderful accidents today to keep our journey far from boring!

The wonderful day started with a delayed coach. As we got to reach Frankfurt International School in the morning, the 12 of us took four taxis to go there while other 13 had disappeared since Thanos snapped his fingers...just kidding, they had left Frankfurt for
Göttingen earlier yesterday for other visiting activities. And fortunately for that we didn't need 5 more taxis!

More interestingly, on the way to the international school, we received news from YWPS that our P.6 Beijing Tour participants was encountering a flight delay and would have to wait at the airport for 4 hours. Accidents happen everywhere around the globe!
Picture
This was taken as I was having a taxi ride in the morning with Dr Fong and Principal Man next to me. A moment later, my phone would tell me that our Vice Principal was urgently seeking advice from Mrs Lam concerning the flight delay in Beijing. Obviously Vice Principal Lee failed to reach Mrs Lam but I wasn't in the same cab with her...It took me a few group messages to reach her...Thanks to our modern technology that they were finally linked up.
Picture
Staff from the elementary and middle schools of Frankfurt International School came to receive us. They brought us around their enormous and green campus and had a briefing session with us on their curriculum and features. This school houses 1800 students in 58 nationality groups and English is the common language of exchange and instruction. It was unfortunate though that lesson observation couldn't be arranged due to a clash with their examination schedule.
Our coach eventually reached us after our visit and it was then that one of our participants, Principal Leung, found that her belongings were not brought by the coach. They were left in the hotel! And thus, we had to travel all the way back to our hotel. It took us half an hour. Then we had a 3-hour coach ride to Göttingen to pick up the 13 participants. The biggest surprise dropped to us from this point – the 3-hour ride to Bielefeld turned out to be 8 due to unexpected rerouting and some toilet breaks.

Funny enough, during this time, I received pictures about my students enjoying themselves in Beijing airport while they're waiting. I wondered if the leading teachers and parents on the other side of the globe were better off than us here in Germany!
Picture
We were still on the coach at 21:05 though the sky was still bright. It was half an hour later that we eventually reached the restaurant for our late dinner. When we finished our meal, it was 23:00, 05:00 Hong Kong time, the time when my students met their parents at the Hong Kong airport after their memorable tour in Beijing.

I enjoyed these happy accidents today
– at least I felt weirdly connected with my students, who would soon be reading these passages I write.
Looking for some questions? I only give you one today!
Picture
This was found in a corner at Frankfurt International School. What happened?
More to come (hopefully not accidents!), stay tuned.

Dr H C Lee

Hello everyone, I think delay is very annoying, it wasted my times and we needed to wait a long time by doing nothing. Was Dr.Lee feeling the same?Q1:I think it is a game for students. They need to make a post on the ground .

I liked the Thanos joke but then why did 13 people disapear and not 12.5 leaving half of Dr. Lee behind? Also, I think the answer is the school has some theme like our school and it’s part of it.

The answer of the question is too obvious. Dr.Lee killed a student there and the police used tape to outline the dead body. Or else it must be where Mrs.Lam's son was last seen.

The accidents which happened on the day are hilarious, and change a normal visit into something really exciting and memorable. I think the question at the end is really thought-provoking, and I still do not know the answer.

I think that is a game for the children and they have to find a missing person and this may be a clue.I think it is very interesting that the sky was still bright at 21:05.

I think the answer is the children is playing a detective game that need to guess who die and who kill him.And I have a question that do the Germany teacher understand chinese words in our school booklet?

Question 1: It should be used to play detective games.
Yes Dr. Lee, the accidents that happen are really weird but also interesting. By the way, when was the sky finally dark in Germany?

Question answer: I'm guessing that corner is for students to enjoy themselves while playing educational games. In this case, a detective game.
Thoughts: Wow, it seems like you were basically on a very long road trip for most of the day! Also, is it really normal for the sun in Germany to be still out at 21:05?

Yes, delays can be critical. On our Beijing trip, we had a 4 hour delay of our flight back to Hong Kong! It was an unbearable night!
Q1: I think that is part of the school's theme, such as the Pearl of Alaska bursting into pieces.

I think the school let the students imagine what has happened at the “crime scene” and guess who is the “dead guy” to boost their creativity.

Btw, during the flight delay, we had to wait at the airport for hours. We are exhausted and homesick.

Question 1: I think the students are playing some sort of detective game so they draw it to pretend someone is killed, and the detective need to find the murderer, but after the game, they forget to clean the floor. :)

Dr Lee, can you show the photos of the hotel? I am very curious about it! Are you too tired so you just give one question to us? I know that delays are annoying, I hate delays, too, especially airplane delays.

I think the thing on the floor is a prop in a drama show. Or maybe the students are playing a detective game and they need to find the murderer.
Delay is annoying. Although we had a total of ¥140 meal coupon in the airport, the delay lasted for six and and a half hours and we had nothing to do but going to Starbucks to buy coffee constantly. Ha!

People with problems with their thinking(animals included) should not post ??? content in the reply. And also the outline of a person in the picture is used by the police to recollect the scene of a murder.Maybe this class is a forensic class?

Q1 :I was just thinking the same like Derrick and many of them !Ths ought to be a murder mystery as Thanos has snapped his fingers without noticing .
The delay was crazy ,and we had to kill time to wait for the plane to finally set foot on Beijing .I really don't think the delay was acceptable for me .

I think it was an outlining game, something that we tried in our second year of school too. A student lies on the ground in a peculiar position, and another uses chalk to outline him. btw, the accidents were quite funny and interesting to read about. Weren’t you annoyed?

I think there is a drama about someone being killed. And this is a marker for actors to know where the dead body should be placed.
The delay is crazy! We arrived HK about 4am!But we aren't bored as we played something!

Indeed, delays, rerouting and toilet breaks can be the utter demon in such a fantastic trip! The best thing is to enjoy everything and learn from their culture. On the other side on the globe in the Beijing international airport, it was completely mayhem, chaos, havoc and pandemonium. Everybody was stressed out and pacing up and down. Starbucks coffee weren't the best thing to keep us awake. And that's what you pay for: a 140-dollar coupon. I'm stressed...
I believe that the shadow was actually Mrs. Lam's missing son that was gone years ago. He might have been last seen in Germany... now we have a mystery on our hands!
it might be used for drama lesson; the scene might be a murder crime investigation and students have to act it out. By the way, the outline of a person in the picture might be used by the police to recollect the scene of a murder. These suggest this class is a forensic class...

So there are a lot of delays that particular day, but still it's just coincidence still. But there are also thing that you can do on long trips on buses, like preparing for the next place visit, and also looking on the view of the green grass and golden fields! And the answer to the question:
No.1, It is supposed to be for a detective game inside of the school, and it is a clue of them.

I think that was a question corner for the students to think and ask questions. And someone drew a body shape from someone and ask a question 'This is who's body shape? How can you guess from the things around.'
