[18 Feb] Dr M T Yuen from the Faculty of Education at The University of Hong Kong brought 23 of his Master of Education students to visit YWPS to experience our ideas and productions. They arrived at our school at 10 am on 18 Feb.

Principal Dr Chan started the session by her sharing on creativity in teaching, which involved five "E"s: "energy", exposure", "enjoyment", "enhancement", and importantly, "ethic". Participants were so inspired by Dr Chan's words.

Afterwards, I did my sharing with them on how my department and I have been putting effort into exercising creativity over the years. One of the highlights of my talk was certainly the very interesting clips we produced. The guests were deeply impressed by our "Ying Wa 204" videos as well as our "To Be Continued..." clip.

The school tour followed the presentations and Miss Kei Yip along with three Student Ambassadors (5A Aldon So, 5C Lincoln Powell and 6B Shaun Ng) led the tour, interacting with the participants in different languages.

It was a fantasy exchange opportunity between the visitors and us, and I too learnt a great deal from the interactions. Thanks to Dr Yuen for visiting us! ^o^

Dr H C Lee

P.S. The following is some immediate feedback we received after the visit:

"Very creative speaking of Dr Chan and Dr Lee. Impressed by five 'E's and whole inclusive and energetic learning environment."

"The anniversary video sharing was quite interesting, which reminded me of thinking more creative activities to build the connecting between students and parents."

"I really enjoyed how two of them delivering the speech. They were so passionate and thoughtful."

"I was thoroughly impressed by Dr. Chan's willingness to accept feedback and opinions, as well as the quick and efficient execution of various events. The presentation demonstrated how education and teaching can be flexible and creative."

"Ying Wa is definitely a creative school with lots of creative teachers and students. Thank you for the tour."

"The representative students are very helpful and enthusiastic in introducing school to us."

"School tour are fantastic, impressed by student creative work."

"A great tour, love the company of adorable students"

"Sincere gratitude to Kei for the detailed school tour. The tour was well-organized and everything was introduced in great detail. The students were also smart and helpful, answering all our questions and actively guiding us to understand the culture of YWPS boys. Additionally, Dr. Lee's speech was inspiring, showcasing real-life examples of creativity. The A-list system introduced is a brilliant idea and I truly appreciate the effort put in by the teachers. It is clear that it involves a huge extra workload, yet it is a valuable contribution to the education of the students. It was a wonderful experience!"

It's really a fantastic experience to interact with Dr Yuen and his students from HKU!I had the pleasure to interact with so many guests. This is a really good chance for me to train my speaking skills!

From the view of a school ambassador, I think the highlight of the activity was the school tour. The visitors from HKU were enthusiastic - they asked me a lot questions about creativity teaching and learning in YWPS. At first, I was really shy to talk to people who were outside our school, but soon I got rid of my fear and expressed myself freely when they asked me questions. Along the way, I felt especially proud when I introduced the best of our school!

Many thanks to Dr. Lee for giving me this opportunity to interact with the guests. It was a great experience before I graduate from YWPS!

Meeting the HKU students was and will undoubtedly be one of the rarest childhood memories and that is not an overstatement. Being able to converse and interact with them as a P5 was a brilliant opportunity. The first speech was by Principal Dr Chan, and was about the five Es mentioned. Even though I was not a teacher , that motivated me as a student too. And why should it not? Energy is important for a motivation of revision of homework, exposure would be to different kinds of education , enjoyment to enjoy the learning process, enhancement to improve our attention and being ethical is fundamental for moral principles of learning. Dr Lee’s speech was extremely convincing too. When he was talking about his A-List, he suddenly invited me up to answer a completely unexpected question. HIs Award List was not Punishment List, as Dr Lee gave each of the awardees kind comments which helped them improve in both writing and the long run.

The tour was full of questions. The HKU students asked me about the school and how was education at YWPS. At first, I was not all that confident. After all, these were highly educated students whom where eight to nine years older than me., however, I gained the will to talk and I had a good time and enjoyed interacting with them as if they were old friends.

Thanks to Dr Lee for giving me such a wonderful opportunity and equally to Principal Chan for gifting me a return with more courage and more knowledge. Thanks to Lincoln and Shaun, you both made the situation a lot less awkward ! Most importantly , I would like to thank the HKU students for giving me a chance to interact with you all. It was really a wonderful opportunity !
