Good news comes from the Hong Kong Young Writers Awards (HKYWA) 2020 amidst the gloominess of the extensive school suspension period.

Jadon Lee Ching-ho of 6E is honoured as WINNER in the Non-Fiction category of the prestigious writing competition in the senior primary group.

Under the theme of "Future Adventures of the Greater Bay Area", Jadon, a member of the English Enhancement Class, chose to enter the non-fiction category with his work titled "Future Facts of the Greater-Bay-Area", which turned out to be a very well researched piece full of mature and innovative thoughts, not to mention that his English writing and organization skills are truly superb for his level.

YWPS has been joining this writing contest for a decade with awarded poetry and fictional works from our boys several times. But the last time our boy had actually won in a category was indeed back in 2012. Jadon's achievement here is our second WINNER in this competition and this is also our first time having a non-fiction piece being recognized by HKYWA.

Although the award ceremony is understandably postponed, his achievement still deserves to be shared and appreciated. Big CONGRATULATIONS to Jadon!

First of all, I would like to thank Dr. Lee for his teachings and advice which helped me make my draft into a winning piece. I would also like to thank my parents for helping me to locate all the useful information for me to use. I was shocked to hear that I got my writing to be a winning piece.

All the Enhancement group members worked hard for the topic and brainstormed ideas...I feel that somehow it's like you representing the group for the top prize! Please continue to do quality writings in the future. And thank you for bringing us happy news Jadon.😉😍

It's great to hear that you were awarded first prize, especially after hearing how hard it is to be awarded first in this competition. Merely one boy was awarded first back in 2012 (big congrats to him too)! The fact that you were awarded makes me feel happy amidst the virus epidemic. Having read through your passage, I genuinely think that you have done incredible research. The thing that most impresses me is the fact that you chose to write a non-fiction essay instead of a fiction one, even though a fiction story is much more fun and exciting to read and write. This example proves that we should always try to face challenges bravely! You have inspired me to face the current virus also like a challenge, and to overcome it bravely.

First of all, congratulations to Jadon for getting first place in the HKYWA competition! I was pleased to hear that you won, especially since the last time a boy who won in this competition was in 2012!
Amongst the coronavirus epidemic, I feel that we all need something good to cheer us up, especially since things are looking so grim. What's interesting is that you chose to compete in the non-fiction category, instead of the fiction category, which is "easier" to write and more entertaining to read. After reading your piece, I see that you put a lot of time and effort into writing this piece, not including all the time you took to do research. Congrats again for winning a well-deserved award!

First of all, congratulations,Jadon! It is truly astonishing to hear that you won this prestigious competition, since the last winner was back in 2012! While the weather and the pandemic may be making our lives harder and gloomier, it's always amazing to hear something good and encouraging during these times. By looking at your information-full essay, it's obvious that you put all your heart and your soul into this writing and finding all the information. An absolutely fantastic job, as expected from you!
