Presenting a souvenir to Ms Mary Ann Tear

At Gardens by the Bay
[16 Feb 2019] When we thought that the two-day learning at a local Singaporean school would be memorable enough for our student participants, they were given a stunning and daring drama workshop today by British Speech and Drama expert Mary Ann Tear and her invited guest teacher Charlotte (Salad d Clown), who was known for her clowning work.

Our boys learnt some exciting skills to improve their confidence and proficiency in acting on stage. Besides, students were instructed to put on makeup for clowning. A lot of our boys were reluctant at first, but once they started to do it, they're all engaged in it! Our boys might still be far away from being professional actors given such a brief learning time, but their getting out of their comfort zone touched us all. While they have learnt to be bold on stage with their character, they also learnt to respect the profession of acting.

Also, another highly anticipated location Gardens by the Bay did not fail to impress us all, as expected. The scale of such enchanting gardens and the messages they want to send out were memorable. We may not be plant lovers, but it was difficult not to be attracted by the carefully designed gardens and the endless views of beautiful foliage.

The Marina Bay Sands Observation Deck got swapped with tomorrow's Chinatown. So, we had a convenient arrangement of visiting the Chinatown after dinner. The ending was...children returning to the coach with filled bags.

The children have done their luggage packing, but no one seems to be excited about returning to Hong Kong tomorrow - is the success of this tour a good or bad news in this regard?

Big applause to Dr LEE, Mr. Richard (Group 5 leader), Ms. J Ho <special thanks :) > and all the teachers for making this study tour so much fruitful and success. The genuine smiles on our boys’ faces almost everyday simply tell how much they enjoy the daily activities I am sure this trip will be one of their most memorable events in life and the visit of Ms LAM will be one of those .... positive surprises !

I just came back from Singapore and we saw Mrs.Lam! It’s also great to see my family again :)
This trip was filled with surprises such as the clown makeup and Mrs.Lam’s visit. It’s so rich in content (like the Anglo-Chinese school visit) that I could go there ten more times!
Once again, thanks YW for preparing this wonderful trip and let me go on my first school trip!

Thanks YW for arranging such a memorable trip for the boys. The drama workshop was really a great experience to our boys, I ensure all of them enjoyed every moment during the workshop. Thanks for the hospitality of Fairfield Methodist School and Angle-Chinese School as well.

That day, we went to quite a lot of fun places, with the drama workshop starting our fruitful and interesting day. When we arrived to the workshop, we did some funny warm outs like shaking our bottom and blowing a imaginary cake (which was actually spitting on the one in front of you) to prepare ourselves for the drama later. Then, we started our "make-up" classes as a clown. It was a new experience to help each other do their make-up and even more fun to act like a clown . Although it took a lot of time to wipe the make-up off, it was enjoyable.
After that, we went to Gardens by the Bay. It was hot and the sun was scorching the land, so we quickly walk past the super trees and scurried into the first exhibition---- the Flower Dome. Inside the air was refreshing compared to the weather outside and the beautiful flowers and wood sculpture caught my attention immediately. We walked through the land of flowers and relaxed ourselves until we realized that time was running out. We then left and entered the moist Cloud Forest. When we walked through its door, the fist thing we saw was the magnificent waterfall descending from the top. We took a lift at the top and started walking down while enjoying the scenery there.
That night, we went to China Town. It was a short visit, but still, we carried bags of spoils back, putting a perfect period for the day

The highlights of the day was going to Gardens By The Bay. The Flower Dome was full of colour ! I saw many kinds of exotic plants and trees, and there was an extraordinarily large cactus that caught my eye. Once I stepped into the Cloud Forest, a gushing waterfall was looming in front of me! It was a brilliant sight and I wish to go there again soon.

Of course, the highlight of the day is going to Gardens by the Bay! (it rhymes!)The cloud dome was very spectacular, and I saw a very panoramic and astonishing view of the cloud dome! Colorful orchids were displayed below, while the eerie mist was transforming the garden into a marvelous painting.
After that, I learned that we have to treasure and protect the Earth, or else every beautiful thing -- including this dome -- will be vanished.

That day, we excitingly arrived in Gardens by the Bay and we took a lot of photos and we were playful at first. However, after finishing Cloud Forest, we suddenly went from the colorful rainforest to a dark, dull room.

At there, I suddenly realized that the purpose of building the garden is not just for the tourists to take pictures but to teach us a lesson that plants are losing fast and they can only live if we take the right choice.

I appreciate that the Singapore Government is willing to use billions to build a massive garden to teach us a lesson. I hope soon, we could see a similar garden in Hong Kong too!

It was time for drama. Excepting normal drama skills. We learned how to paint a clown face, learn more about what does a clown do and how to attract audience in drama. It was very interesting. I even received a free hat from them.
Gardens by the Bay was a good place to learn how to save our beautiful world and know more kinds of plants species. We were lucky to have a skilful guide for us to learn. She must be a plants lover, as she give very clear explanations.

In Garden by the Bay, the flowers and plants are spectacular. The design was impressive. Afterwards,we went to Chinatown. The things there were very traditional and sophisticated.

That was an amazing day with Miss Mary-Ann and the Salad d clown, it was a privilege that we could have drama lessons with them. Everyone was excited about the make-up session, when all of the assistants put makeup cream onto our face. We ultimately became clowns. We learnt different skills to be a clown and this was a splendid experience.

The visit of the Gardens By The Bay, and the cactuses from all around the world really caught my eye. Every single plant there was transported from various countries,so they all became a giant collection.

Although Chinatown was only a small street, it has many different souvenirs representing Singapore. They were a `bit expensive but it was still a pleasure to purchase souvenirs there.

It was a long day for us, while we had both our brains and bags full. None of us did not enjoy this fruitful trip and it was a great journey.
