[12 Nov] Our P.5-6 Singapore Study Tour 2023 (26-30 Oct) revived and ended with a huge WOW! 30 selected boys had the chance to visit two local primary schools, Singapore Science Centre, Gardens by the Bay, Lau Ba Sat, NEWater, Little India and many more incredible locations. Instead of writing long paragraphs here, a sum up video has just been made and I'm glad to share it with you:
Regarding students' learning and feedback of this tour, I leave the space for our participants to tell us. Please keep an eye on the comments section here.

I am one of the students in the Singapore Study Tour. In the study tour, I learned many things in different travel sight, such as in the NEWater Visitor Center, I learned that how much water we waste every day, so we need to recycle the water we used in order to stop wasting of water. To sum up, the whole Singapore Study Tour was extremely fun and exciting. If you ask me which country I like most, I will answer Singapore.

As a participant in this trip, I am glad to say that I enjoyed this trip a lot. Marina Bay Sands impressed me the most. The view was amazing and the sea water was transparent. Overall, I loved Singapore after this trip. I hope our school can keep holding this tour in the following years,

As a participant of this trip, I think I am very lucky to be able to go to Singapore in my last year at YWPS. We went to different places in Singapore and tasted different food. The place I liked the most was the Singapore City Gallery since I learned about Singapore's history. What a wonderful trip!

As a member of this Singapore study tour, I truly thank Principal Chan for this great opportunity and the teachers for scheduling this trip. I think that I am very lucky to participate in this tour as this is my last year in Ying Wa Primary School. The most attractive place in this tour was the Gardens by the Bay because the waterfall was so beautiful and there were different types of plants for us to learn and explore. All in all the Singapore Study Tour had given me the best overseas learning experience and it also let me learn about the history and culture of Singapore.

As a member of this school tour, I think that this has been a truly wonderful experience for me. I would like to thank Principal Chan and the school for organising such a wonderful trip for us. I would also like to thank Mr. Wan, our tour guide, for sharing tons of Singapore knowledge with us. At Singapore, we learnt about Singapore’s history, the water processing systems and even learnt a bit of science at the Singapore Science Museum. However, even though we have left, I shall never forget the friends and fun memories we made together. Memories do truly last forever.

I am extremely grateful to be a part of the Singapore Study Tour as this is my first trip to another country without my family. I learned a lot about traditional Singapore culture and Singapore’s city. My favourite place we went to was the Observation Deck since I can see the whole city from there and I can take a lot of beautiful pictures too! What an amazing adventure.

In this tour, I have learned more about Malay, Indian and Eurasian cultures. I have also been deeply shocked by the friendliness of the local people. As a tourist, I felt respected and well treated. As an observer, I felt overwhelmed by the warmth of the society and touched by their subtle but true acts of kindness and generosity. I sense that they are working as a community and not thinking of themselves. I think Hong Kong should implement this virtue into society, improving the prosperity of the city. As a citizen, I will treat others with kindness and think as a team.

This was an unforgettable experience, I believe, for all the members of this tour. We learnt about the Singapore culture and history, how they reused used water at NEWater, but besides that, many hidden morals were inside this gem of a trip. For example, we went to the Singapore Science Museum, where I truly learnt what ‘learning through fun’ is.

Learning through fun isn’t just cranking a few handles or pressing a few buttons and watching the science work it’s magic and then running off to a pretty new exhibit that’s catching your eye, at least not in this case. Learning through fun is understanding the principle of what you are doing and actually experiencing it firsthand. Knowing this, I read the plates of every exhibit. An astounding number of them were so lengthy they were bigger than the exhibit itself, and honestly, I felt annoyed to have to read it over and over again, as the text was so complex and the theories were so deep. However, the moment when I finish reading and a light bulb comes over my head while I look and the exhibit and truly understand the principle behind it is truly worth every single millisecond of my time.

There were many of these small lessons scattered all across the axis of this tour, although small, they were rich in the viewpoint of education. We learnt to get more mature without parents spoon-feeding us or holding our hand every day of your life. Learning simple tasks like folding your clothes, living without your parents or as awkward as it may seem, sleeping in complete darkness just because your roommate can’t sleep with the lights on. These all look like childish examples, but if you look at it in another perspective you find that this even applies to studying overseas or going to a boarding school in England. Your parents are not and should not be spoon-feeding you your whole life, and this was a brilliant chance to prove or hone the skills that you should require all your life.

I truly would like to thank Dr Lee and Principal Chan, and all the English teachers for giving me such an opportunity to actually study abroad. You’ve crafted this masterpiece of a tour so thoroughly that we learnt through fun in so many places without even noticing it. This was such a powerful learning experience and I thank you all once again.

You will actually notice the word ‘learning’ repeat itself in so many places in this text. And normally, as a person who speaks English all day, I wouldn’t like it one bit. But I feel now that I should add a hundred more to express actually how much we all learnt from this tour. This was a wonderful trip, and I look forward to the days I look backwards in my life to meet this trip all over again.

This tour was very educational since I learnt a lot about culture, history, science or even languages. For example, we learnt in the City Gallery how Singapore maximised the value of its land as a little city state. Also, we learnt a lot about differnt aspects of science in Singapore Science Centre which had an exhibit about ten times more educational than Hong Kong's. I would dearly hope that the school would host this tour again for the benefits of our other schoolmates.
At last, I would thank all the English teachers and the Principal for giving me such a gold opportunity to learn and to join us in this fulfilling journey!

It’s an honour for me to get to go to this meaningful study tour. I am quite proud of myself actually, for it’s my first time to go out of Hong Kong without my parents. In this wonderful tour, not only did I learn about how NEWater is produced, but also by learning different cultures and history backgrounds I found that we should be more energetic to try new things. In one of the schools that we visited (Fairfield Methodist Primary School) , the teachers there gave us an opportunity to try the Malay culture, in which we have to eat with our bare hands. Although a lots of us thought that was not too hygienic at first, they soon started to enjoyed this eating style and finished the whole box of rice! At the NEWater World we learnt how water was reused and turned into NEWater. All in all, I have to thank you Dr Lee, Principal Chan and all English teachers for organising such a memorable learning experience for us. What an exotic learning opportunity!

This is an unforgettable study tour. It would not have been so successful without the guidance of Principal Chan, Dr Lee and the fantastic English teachers. I learned a lot about different cultures, like Malay and Indian. Singapore is really marvelous and innovative in terms of reusing water, and the NEWater Visitor Centre was fabulous. The Observation Deck must be my No.1 favourite spot because I could enjoy the panoramic view of Singapore and the ocean! The weather was hot but the atmosphere was relaxing. Overall, the trip was wonderful, and I hope to have the opportunity to participate in this trip again. Special thanks to Miss Elizabeth who took great care of our group during the trip.

I am very pleased for choosing me as one of the tour.I learnt different cultures at the school in Singapore.I finally knew that Singapore did reuse used water and how they keep the water safe at the Marina Barrage. I think that the Observation Deck was the best because I could admire the breathtaking view of Singapore and the ocean. This is such a wonderful trip.

This was truly one of the best study tours that I have experienced. I have learned a lot, not just factual information but also life lessons. The most important thing, however, was that I learned how to take care of myself without my parents. During the five days that we were in Singapore, I didn't see either of my parents once. But I realized even without any adults help, I can still take care of myself. Overall, the trip was amazing and I wish I could have stayed in Singapore longer.

Just from 1 single 5-day study tour, I had learned many things. I had learned to look after my belongings, since I lost my watch not once, but twice! Luckily, I had found it eventually. Also, I learned that water is precious by going to the NEWater plant. Originally, I deemed that water was as easy to get as a flick of the tap, but I now know that in Singapore, their resources are very limited. The third thing that I learned is that Singaporeans have a very strong sense of belonging. The love their country deeply, and we should do the same! Besides all these, I also learned that balance in nature and urbanization is very important by going to gardens by the bay. There are still a lot more of things that I have learned in Singapore besides these, so I am very grateful to all the English teachers that have let me join this wonderful tour. Last but not least, I would like to thank Miss Yip, who had taken great care of us these five days.

As a glad participant of this trip, I am truly proud as I have learnt and experienced much. Throughout the trip, the most remarkable and intriguing experience was trying local delicacies such as Nasi Lemak. Knowing that I have to eat with my bare hands, I was a little hesitant at first. But after having the first bite,I regretted my reluctance. It was so delicious with its coconut aroma. Well, I guess I really should be more open to trying new things. In addition, when my mum told me to buy some pandan cake at the airport, since I’ve never tried it before, I didn’t know how many I should buy, so I only bought one eventually. Before I even got to have a bite of the cake, my family had already gobbled it up. They even said that it was so tasty, but I could just dream of eating it. What a pity!

In a nutshell, this Singapore trip was splendid. With true heart, many thanks to our Principal Chan, Dr Lee and our beloved teachers in giving me this wonderful opportunity. I hope that the school will hold more tours in the future so that we can learn more about different cultures around the globe and widen our horizons.

The 5-day study tour was an eye-opening experience for me. I have learned a lot about the diversified and rich culture of Singapore. My favourite spot was Gardens by the Bay. The idea of having a big garden in a small city was brilliant and the design was innovative, which made Singapore a very livable and attractive city. Visiting primary schools in Singapore was so much fun too!

It was a memorable trip and I am grateful to be one of the participants. I would like to thank Ying Wa for offering me this opportunity. Lastly, I wish to express my sincere gratitude to Principal Chan and all the wonderful English teachers, in particular, Miss Yip, who took great care of my team and took a lot of nice shots for us.

This Singapore study trip was unforgettable. By watching this video, all the great experiences and joyful memories popped out in my mind. I am still feeling grateful that I could be part of it.

In this trip, I learned about the food, culture, and technology in singapore. What I want to highlight is the bak koot teh(pork rib soup). I usually don’t eat meat, but I could eat a whole bowl of soup with pork, which was very nice. What a great breakthrough for me.

I was lucky to see that Singapore has one of the most advanced technology in the world, including the NEWater, that can purify used water into potable water. It was very eye-opening.

I had an opportunity to visit two local schools. By chatting and playing games with the local students, we could make global friends, exchange stories and traditions. I really appreciate those student ambassadors because they were polite and gave us a warm welcome. This time, we were the guest to be served. I hope in the future I will have the opportunity to be the student ambassador to serve them back.

As a participant of this Singapore Tour, I feel very lucky! This tour taught us a lot, like learning about Singapore cultures and history. For example, in the NeWater center, we understood the ways of using less water. By watching the video, it has also brought back all the fruitful memories that happened in the amazing tour!

For this tour, we tried many astonishing food and cuisines! Let me tell you some of the craziest ones! First, as we just got off our tour bus, I strode through the restaurant for lunch! I was as hungry as a predator not eating anything, but as soon as I saw the scorching laksa there, I want to "die"! Although it was crazily spicy I still tried a few bites, second, on the second day, we had Nasi Lemak(coconut rice), but we did not have any cutlery! I had to follow the Malay culture and eat it with only me fingertips, although I was pretty disgusted by the way to eat, I still managed to finish it with my bare hands, wow!
Also, I learned that we did not only "play" in the Science Centre, we had to learn a variety of stuff about science, one of the thing that i learnt was that researchers took the RNA-based genetic sequence of the coronavirus and turned it into DNA, and that transformed into the powerful Covid-19 vaccine!
Last but not lest, I would like to thank Principal Chan, Dr. Lee, Mr .Lau, the tour guides and the other lovely teachers for making the tour comfortable for me, Thank you teachers!

I am very honoured to be in this trip for I learned many lessons for my entire life. This memorable trip included many things to learn, such as culture, history and independence.I learnt Singapore’s culture in different perspectives, from language to learning methods,I say that Singapore is amazing to contain Chinese, lndian and Malayan culture in a small amount of space.I also learnt the history of Singapore. From a small and stinky trade market to a city that the one and only Marina Bay Sands was built,I say that it made Singapore spectacular. This lesson, being independent is kind of hidden. As we continue our journey,we need to take care of ourselves. In the trip,we were not the ‘king’,no one take cares of you now as like at home.We need to pack our bags without anyone telling you to.I say it is a big step for our family to let go and for us,we needed to ensure letting go is the right thing to do.Finally, I thank my family and our teachers to love, trust and guide us through this journey. I also want to thank our tour guide Mr Wan for being the best teacher to lead us.I’m grateful for everything that they have done, thank you!
