[14 Feb 2019] Although "Happy Valentine's Day" might not be relevant to our boys yet, "HAPPY" can definitely sum up this second day of our Singapore Study Tour. See below!

H - Hospitality. The two schools we started our school experience with (Anglo-Chinese School Junior and Fairfield Methodist Primary School) exercised a very high level of hospitality to host us. Our boys enjoyed the opportunity mingling with the Singaporean children and learned from a different curriculum in a friendly way. Besides, our meals were offered by the two brilliant schools freely. No wonder all of our boys had very positive feedback today on their school experiences.

A - Ambassador Programmes. Both schools have adopted Student Ambassador Programmes similar to what we do. Today Anglo-Chinese School offered a 2-ambassador-to-1-visitor scheme to maximize interactions while Fairfield's ambassadors were well equipped with scripts, mics and uniforms, and importantly, they had girls to train up our boys' social manners!

P - Principal's Surprise. Our School Headmistress Mrs Lam gave our P.6 boys a warm surprise as she appeared during our school experience in Fairfield Methodist. She even gave a speech on friendship and love to the Singaporean students at the morning assembly with her signature "magic trick" in the end.

P - Perfect Weather. Should we feel bad that the weather forecast was not accurate? As can be seen from our photos, the sun was smiling all the way today to enhance our outdoor experience. Our sweat of happiness has made the experience even more memorable!

Y - "Yes!" This is the voice in unison when the tour guide offered a shopping opportunity to us in the end of the day. After a packed learning programme and a visit to the interesting Little India and Arab Street areas, we were brought to a nearby supermarket to let some of our boys' cash contribute to the Singapore economy! Guess what the children bought?

More fun should happen tomorrow for sure. Hope you've all had a Happy Valentines Day as we do!

Two days have gone by so quickly because time flies when you're having fun!

As Mrs Lam always says, "Learning should be deadly serious but playful" at the same time.

Day coming up......

It was the first day I went to a school in Singapore. They had more subjects than us such as Social Studies and Science. I liked my buddies a lot because they were so friendly and easily to socialize with. I quite like studying in Fairfield Methodist School.

It is a pleasure of being a participant in this tour, the first day of school life is amazing.Their school is much bigger than Ywps.My ambassador is good because he teaches me a lot about the school.

The feeling in another school is a lot different than in Ying Wa . I think that the large canteen could not fit in Hong Kong because of the massive size . I truly opened my eyes today.

I learned a lot during the trip to Fairfield, but the most memorable thing was how to sketch. At first, I was frustrated to how to sketch, but later the kind teachers helped me on how to sketch, and finally I did two masterpieces(to my opinion)!
Moreover, I want to thank the Fairfield ambassadors (no matter boy or girl) that they taught us many different subjects, from geography to culture! I was deeply educated by them and had a great time at Fairfield.

Anglo-Chinese School was very different than ours. For example, the playground was so big! We climbed the ladder sphere after lunch. Also, the canteen has so many kinds of food! There was Malay food, Chinese food... just naming a few.
Fun fact: The school’s Chinese name is same as ours!

Fairfield was so big compare to our school they have four gardens and many classroom. I couldn't find my way back to the classroom after recess! I learned to sketch photos. At first, I was confused and don't know how to sketch. But after the art teachers corrections, I finally sketch one normal photo!

The visit to the school really opened my eyes because of how their learning style is so different from ours. For example, they had a room for each lesson that was set by their own speed of learning so that the slow students and the faster students could have their own learning pace.

Very creative way to express "HAPPY" feeling. I should learn from that as my reflections are all normal boring writing.

H: Had a great tour!!!
A: A lot of learning!!!
P: Pleased to meet new friends!!!
P: Purchased a lot of things!!!
Y: You have been a really great group leader, Dr. Lee!!!

I was happy to meet many new friends from ACS, they were very nice and we'd exchanged our email immediately. Surprisingly, I got a present from one of my new friend, it's so sweet!

Fairfield was seriously mega large! They had a greenhouse, 3 gardens and over 40 classes with over 1700 students! It was really a large community as a primary school compared to ying wa!
