P.6 Singapore Study Tour 2018: Day 1

At Anglo-Chinese School (Junior) with fun!
Having to wake up at 4 am (if not earlier) didn't seem to have bothered our 30 enthusiastic boys much for the start of their Singapore Study Tour (23-27 Feb).

The Kaya Toast and Bak Kut Teh didn't seem to get close to being the highlight of the day compared to our visit to Anglo-Chinese School (Junior). Their wonderful school simply redefined hospitality when they opened their sports, scout and art classes for our boys to join where we could interact with their children, followed by some wonderful snacks! We thanked their staff and school head Mrs Chaillan so dearly!

As our boys, I'm also looking forward to the excitement on Day 2!

Even though my son Chun Wing woke up at 4:15, it's the first time to get his immediate action, just like pressed a button then woke up, haha... he's very electrified to have this great chance to join this study tour!!

The first day of the tour we had to wake up at 4:30 a.m and we had to go to the airport. But it was worth it when I went to the Anglo Chinese School Junior (ACSJ) it was very fun and they were very caring.

Dear Dr. Lee:
This was the first time travelling to Singapore with my teachers and classmates.Although I had to wake up early,I still felt extremly excited and had a wonderful learning experience!

I agreed with you,the kaya toast and the Bak Kut Tah were not the highlights of this day compared to our visit to one of the best school in Singapore-Anglo Chinese School.

After the welcome ceremony,we had different activities with students in Anglo Chinese School and our was occupied to play rugby.Although it was my first time to play rugby,I still enjoyed this sport very much!

Time flies, the visit ended,I hope there will be another chance to visit this wonderful school!Thank you all teachers taking care of us and gave us a memorable experience!

I woke up at 4:15 am, it is a special experience for me and I haven't tried to wake up that early. The students in Anglo Chinese were very nice and they welcomed us by "high-five". My group played soccer with the students, and they always passed the ball to us for goal. This is a better way to make friends than chat.
The Kaya toast was delicious and I had never tried to eat it and it was unexpectedly yummy. For the Buk Kut Teh had lots of pepper in it and it was too spicy for me.
Thanks for the kind welcome and Mrs Chaillan and the students very much.

An interesting experience at Anglo-Chinese school! I played rugby and felt it was very fun though it was really tiring. I even made some new friends in the school. Maybe we can invite the students in ACSJ to come to Ying Wa too!

Dear Doctor Lee,
Thanks for sharing this day with us.
Anglo-Chinese School seems to be a big school. It even has a grass football field! I hope our school also has one. The students of this school must be kind and nice.
Actually, I have tried the A Kun Kaya Toast and the Bak Kut Teh for a few times, and I think that they are very delicious.
I really hope that I can go to Singapore in the future!

That day we were very tired and cold as we only get to wear summer clothes but over there in Singapore, it was very humid and hot that even if we were wearing short clothes, we were still sweating a lot.The Anglo Chinese School were very friendly and started and ended our day by clapping our hands! We never did that before as a student ambassador! We were chose to play football with the students. it was very fun! The bak kut teh and kaya toast was very tasty! I totally recommend it!

Dear Dr. Lee,
Wow! I had only tried the Kaya Toast and Bak Kut Teh once, but it was tastier than I thought!
On the other hand, I think that Anglo-Chinese School (Junior) is probably the most amazing school in Singapore. They have got sports, scout and art classes, which show that the school really cares about students' holistic development, like Ying Wa.
Lastly, I want to ask that had they played American football or soccer?
Thanks for sharing!

Thank you to you to give us a pleasant journey and I had a very happy trip. Thank you Joe and May, two tour guides for taking care of us and giving us a lot of knowledge about Singapore too. The first day I woke up at four thirty and it was really very tiring. I slept on the plane for two hours.
The Kaya Toast is very tasty too, some kaya space and butter was between inside the toasts, that makes the toast very tasty.
As you said, I think the best thing is visiting the Anglo Chinese School,
We played rugby and I love it very much. When some visitors come to our school, we have students ambassadors to welcome them. It is and 1to 1 conversation. They (Anglo Chinese School) used a group to group interaction that we could play a lot of things. They had snacks for us too after the activities, that Ying Wa did not have I think Ying Wa could learn a lot.
The Bak Khu Teh was spicy, but it was delicious. I think that they don't like eating spicy food, so they don't like that meal.

1, well, the schedule is a bit hard to describe.
2, ceramics (pottery), Chinese, English, Music... and a lot more.
3, yes, they have a football court. They also have volleyball courts, basketball courts, band rooms, and a lot more.
4, of course! I recommend you to have the kaya toast, the chicken rice, the Bak Kut Teh and try the local Chinese restaurants.
5, have you ever seen Ya Kun Toast? We ate that there.

Well both schools we visited are nearly twice as big as Ying Wa. They have almost twice the facilities as us too! But they also have about 1000 students, so it gives them twice the space to move in.

I took part in this Singapore trip and I was glad I did. Science Centre, National Museum, Gardens By the Bay, Marina Bay Sands, MS Works, Anglo-Chinese School, Fairfield Methodist Primary... The teachers and Wing On Travel did their best to make the trip fun and memorable. I enjoyed myself a lot in those five days, and I'm sure everyone else did too. Although I had had to wake up super early sometimes and I fell ill the day after we arrived in Hong Kong, it was worth it. Thank you English department for the trip! It was certainly, with no doubt, wonderful and fruitful!
