Tea Gathering at the Government House

[2 Feb 2019] On the Lunar Calendar this was the 28th of December, the traditional day for “cleaning your house”, but a group of Ying Wa Boys were invited to the Government House, not for cleaning, but for a tea party!

8 members of the winning Thematic Group Speaking Team plus 1 Maths awardee had the fortune to take part in the gathering initiated by our Chief Executive Mrs Carrie Lam. Over a hundred participants (students, parents, teachers, School Heads etc) enjoyed their happy time at the beautiful ballroom of the Government House, taking pictures with some major government officials (including Mrs Carrie Lam herself), listening to the CE's speech, and enjoying the delicious refreshments.

This was a unique and honourable occasion for all those who took part in it. It is also quite thoughtful of the CE to acknowledge young award winners in different areas who will certainly be the future of Hong Kong.

She first held the party in July last year and this was her second event. We do look forward to the next one. Perhaps, more Ying Wa Boys will get the opportunity!

It is such a valuable opportunity to be invited to join this tea gathering at the Government House.I would like to thank our teacher in Thematic Group Speaking, Dr.Lee, for training us, The Chief Executive of Hong Kong, Mrs Carrie Lam, for inviting us.

I especially remembered the moment that Mrs Carrie Lam mentioned us in her speech at the beginning of the gathering.I was surprised and felt thankful to Mrs Carrie Lam for remembering us.

The Government House is splendid and bright. The flowers in the garden are gorgeous. The food there are tasty, too!

I hope that Mrs Carrie Lam would invite more students to the Government House next time and it would be a lifelong memory to them, and also, to us.

I would like to start by thanking Dr Lee and Mrs Carrie Lam for this wonderful experience, I never would have thought that my journey as a member of the Ying Wa thematic speaking team would come to a brilliant ending like this !!!!
I was so happy when Mrs Carrie Lam came over and took a photo so close with us , I felt super duper honoured to have a chance like this .
The tea party took place at the grand ballroom in the Government House , the refreshments there were super delicious ! I had never tasted such a thing !
To end our party , Mrs Carrie Lam let us go out to her garden to take pictures , the garden itself was breathtakingly beautiful and nice in a good old way .
To conclude myself , I again want to thank Dr Lee and Mrs Carrie Lam for this trip to the Government House . I am honoured and super lucky to be a member of the thematic speaking team and be taught by Dr Lee.

I am more than delighted and honoured to be invited to the tea gathering. Words cannot express how grateful I am to the Chief Executive of Hong Kong, Mrs Carrie Lam, for letting us visit at one of Hong Kong’s most historically significant buildings, the gorgeous Government House, and perfect Ballroom.

Besides, I would like to thank our English Panel wholeheartedly, Dr Lee, for support and guidance, in a bid to be the winner in 70th Speech Festival, and our class master, Ms Li, for asking me to join the Thematic Group Speaking Team.

It is an incredibly memorable experience once in a blue moon. I would do my utmost endeavours to speaking and wish to have improvement.
