Thematic Group Speaking Breaks More Records!

[29 Nov] Our boys have created more miracles at the 75th Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival as they won for the 7th time in this challenging category of Thematic Group Speaking since we first joined it at the 66th festival.

As if winning the 7th time was not impressive enough, these 9 boys performed an act so brilliant that melted the heart of the Adjudicator who gave them a record-breaking 94 marks! I personally don't remember any group (or even solo performer) in our school receiving such a high score at the Speech Festival in our 20 years of history.

Ajudicator Mr Owen praised them for their vocal strength, emotion quality and clarity. And he admitted that he seldom saw a group like ours with every member (regardless of roles) engaging at such a high level.

A fun fact is that this year YWPS was the only team entering the Thematic Group Speaking (Primary) class. And therefore, insteading of having a "competitive" mood, they were directed into the thought of reaching at least the level of their former schoolmates participating in Thematic Group Speaking
-- that is a score of 88.

And it turned out that they did more than attaining the expected standard. I congratulate them and am proud of them.

Dr Lee

P.S. Their filmed performance will soon be available. ^o^

It’s an honour to be chosen by Dr Lee to enter this Thematic Group Speaking. I was really shocked to see that we scored such a high score. It is all thanks to Dr Lee for training us for such a long period of time. Our efforts did pay of in the end!

I want to thank our English teacher Dr Lee for giving this exceptional opportunity join the Thematic Group Speaking. If it wasn't Dr Lee who trained us for such a long time, we wouldn't win this award.I have learnt a lot from this amazing experience. Once again, thank you Dr Lee and everyone.

This has been a very fufilling competition and I have learnt a lot through it. For example, although I was not one of the leading roles, us "background" roles couldn't "chill" out as we had to make facial expressions occurring to the leading roles' duologues. Teamwork makes everything possible! I have to thank Dr.Lee very greatly as he helped us a lot in getting this seemingly "impossible" Honorable score of 94!

Dr Lee, thank you for all of the effort you have put in this festival, it is absolutely priceless. This was an exceptional experience as I could really discover a way to do comedy! The score was extremely surprising to me as I think I have never seen a person or group get that high before! Thank you so much for this fruitful opportunity, and I wish you all the best!

This has been a ln adventure with many bumps on the road. Some people may forget their lines, the main characters may stutter, and we always had the fear of losing — even if we were the only team. We did not think that we would reach such an 'impossible' result like this, and thank you, Dr. Lee, for this memorable experience!
