Organized by the London College of Music (LCM) under the University of West London, the 5th LCM Speech Festival was held today (18 Apr). It is the first time YWPS officially trains students for this contest. Aldon and Jayden became the first batch of students representing our school to fight for awards using their impressive speech and drama skills and it turned out that they also become the first batch of boys winning trophies in this relatively young contest.
In the morning session, Aldon was awarded the 1st Runner-up with his Read Aloud performance. The adjudicator appreciated his articulation, pronunciation, dramatic voice effect and use of intonation.
In the afternoon session, Jayden took part in the Public Speaking event and won his first Champion in Speech and Drama. The judge described him as a confident and cogent speaker. Jayden was also praised for his use of idiom, grammatical and pronunciation accuracy, range of vocabulary and his note-free style.
We are happy for their outstanding performances and that there are still platforms where students can attend live and onsite for speech and drama events.
Clearly, learning doesn't and shouldn't stop even with the pandemic!
